Garnett: Brooklyn Crowd 'Could Do Better'

Apr 26, 2014 4:20 PM

Kevin Garnett and Paul Piece each tried to pump up the Brooklyn Nets' home crowd during Friday's Game 3 win over the Toronto Raptors.

Garnett believes the Nets fed off the crowd but still expected more.

"They could do better," Garnett said on Saturday. "I was expecting Brooklyn to be real hostile, New York-style. I know what it's like to come here as the opposition, so our crowd could do better, but they were there when we needed them, and we fed off of them."

"Well, we know gradually they got into it," Pierce added. "Hopefully the next game, it will get a lot better from the start. We want to come out from the jump, from the beginning, and have them in the game. It shouldn't take a big play from us. We want them behind us. It was a great crowd tonight."

Lawrence Frank Still Filing Daily Reports For Nets

Apr 25, 2014 1:03 AM

Lawrence Frank was reassigned from his role as assistant coach of the Brooklyn Nets early in the season and he continues to file daily scouting reports.

"In order for [Jason Kidd] to be successful, I had to make a decision, so I said, 'Let's reassign him,' " King said during an interview with NBA TV. "He does his report -- I got it this morning -- and he's helping from afar. But I believe in Jason and so to give him the ability to be successful, we had to make that decision."

The Nets bottomed out at 10-21, but they turned around their season with small, unconventional lineups.

"[Kidd] believed in himself," King said. "And that was the biggest thing. When he walked into a room, there was confidence. When he talked to the players, there was confidence," King said. "He went at KG [Kevin Garnett]. KG went back at him. He went at Paul [Pierce]. So he wasn't afraid to challenge guys, and that, to me, showed that he was going to be a good coach.

"You've got a Hall of Famer in KG and Paul -- 19 years and 16 years in the league -- and you challenge them in front of the rest of the team, they all believe, 'Okay, this guy's real.' "

Nets Offered Vince Carter To Clippers For Shaun Livingston Before Injury

Apr 16, 2014 2:35 PM

Shaun Livingston has had an outstanding season with the Brooklyn Nets, finally fulfilling upon the promise he showed before suffering a devastating injury.

“When you look at the entire picture, Shaun is a better player now than when he hurt his knee in ’07,” Reggie Livingston said.

The Nets liked Livingston back when Rod Thorn was general manager. The Nets liked him so much that Rod Thorn offered Vince Carter in a trade that Elgin Baylor declined.

Livingston's presence allowed the Nets to move Deron Williams to the 2, Joe Johnson to the 3 and Paul Pierce to the 4.

“I like where I’m at, let’s put it that way,” Shaun Livingston said. “This year’s been everything I could have asked for.”
