Kyle Kuzma Drawing Interest From Knicks, Suns, Mavs, Hawks

Jan 27, 2023 10:52 PM

The New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Atlanta Hawks are mentioned as possible trade destinations for Kyle Kuzma should he demand a trade, sources told Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Pincus adds that "smart money" has Kuzma staying with the Wizards this season, then opting out of his contract and signing new deal with the team.

Marc Stein of Substack recently reported that the Wizards plan on re-signing both Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis

James Dolan Backs Leon Rose As 'Best Guy' To Run Knicks

Jan 27, 2023 9:42 PM

During an interview on Friday afternoon, James Dolan said he believes in the job Leon Rose is doing, and that he "fully expects" the New York Knicks to make the playoffs this season.

"Why did I bring Leon in? I've been doing this for like 20-something years and in my experience with the NBA, there's things you can do as an owner. You can create an environment where everybody, you give them enough money to do their job, give them more money than they need to do their job. You can stay out of the way, which is usually the best course of action.

"But you do end up picking the one guy who's going to make all the strategy, who's going to execute for you. I picked Leon because I believe after you look at the NBA and the game that we play, that the team with the best talent wins. You want a guy who can get you the best talent. I believe that Leon Rose is still the best guy."

Dolan said Rose is not working under a timetable.

"Eventually, there's a timetable," Dolan said. "But, right now, what we're looking for is progress. We want to build into a championship team. We fully expect to make the playoffs this year. That will definitely be a benchmark.

"Now, this is sports. If Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle both get hurt? [Making the playoffs is] probably going to be tough."

Since Dolan assumed control of the Knicks in 1999, New York has had 14 different head coaches and seven different lead basketball executives.

Knicks Offered Multiple First-Round Picks To Raptors For OG Anunoby

Jan 27, 2023 8:11 AM

In December, the New York Knicks reached out to the Toronto Raptors about forward OG Anunoby's availability. In those talks, New York reportedly offered multiple first-round picks to Toronto for Anunoby.

While nothing advanced beyond the initial discussions phase, that offer signaled the Knicks are looking to add to their roster. New York has been in a battle all season long to get up to the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. That would allow the Knicks to avoid the Play-In Tournament.

New York has all of their own first-round picks moving forward. They also have protected first-rounders coming their way from the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards. The Mavericks and Bucks picks both project to convey as soon as possible (this year for Dallas and in 2025 for Milwaukee), while the Pistons and Wizards picks have sliding protections on them through 2027 and 2026 respectively.

The Knicks can also easily put together matching salary for Anunoby in a trade. New York has expiring contracts and young players they can send to Toronto, along with draft picks.

Knicks Resistant To Trade Immanuel Quickley

Jan 25, 2023 7:55 AM

The New York Knicks have changed their tune on the trade market for third-year guard Immanuel Quickley. Where New York was once willing to move the combo guard, the Knicks are now setting a high asking price for Quickley.

In early-December, New York was looking for a first-round pick for Quickley. It's now believed it would take more than a single pick for the Knicks to trade the young guard. In addition, New York doesn't seem to really want to move Quickley at all, at this point in the season.

Quickley has become a key part of Tom Thibodeau's rotation. His defensive play off the Knicks bench has helped sparked the team's turnaround from an under-.500 start to the season.

Evan Fournier: Would Love To Stay In New York But Would Love To Play

Jan 24, 2023 9:03 AM

Evan Fournier's second season with the New York Knicks has been a frustrating one. He's appeared in only 20 games and was removed from the rotation in mid-November.

Fournier has only played when New York has been down other guards and wings. That's now where Fournier wants to be at this point in his career.

“Best-case scenario, I want to stay here. I want to play here,” he said. “I had a bunch of different choices in free agency, and I wanted to be a Knick. I love New York. I wanted to play for (Tom Thibodeau). So, I’d love to stay, but I’d love to play.”

Fournier is owed $18 million this season, $18.8 million next season, before the Knicks hold a $19 million team option for 2024-25. That makes trading the veteran wing a tricky proposition. And asking for a trade isn't something Fournier wants to do, but he knows he can still help a team on the court.

“I’m in the best shape of my career. I should be in my prime. I am in my prime,” he said. “You want to play, for sure. Especially as a competitor. It’s not like I forgot how to play. Last year I had a different role and somehow, I was able to break a 30-year-old franchise record. So, I am going to find a way to adapt to any situation.”

Heat Interested In Trading For Cam Reddish

Jan 21, 2023 3:24 PM

The New York Knicks have ramped up their efforts to trade Cam Reddish. New York has been listening to offers for the fourth-year wing and is expected to move Reddish before the trade deadline.

The Miami Heat are another team that has expressed interest in dealing for Reddish. The Heat join the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks as teams who have pursued Reddish.

Reddish hasn't played since being removed from the Knicks rotation in early-December. For his career, Reddish has averaged 10.2 points on 39.3% shooting from the field.

Knicks Looking For Second-Round Pick For Cam Reddish, Heat Remain Intrigued

Jan 21, 2023 1:16 AM

The New York Knicks are looking for at least a second-round pick in exchange for Cam Reddish, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.

"At least a second-round pick is what they're looking for. And I think, with Reddish, some teams are looking at his situation and seeing that he's a restricted free agent coming up this offseason and there's some reticence there," said Begley.

Begley added that the Lakers have a degree of interest, while the Heat remain "intrigued" by Reddish.
