The Washington Wizards announced that forward Jared Dudley had successful surgery to repair a herniated disc in his lower back.

Dudley will begin the rehab process immediately and is expected to return in approximately three to four months.

“During our discussions with Jared and his agent, Mark Bartelstein, we were made aware that he played with pain for a significant part of last season due to this injury,” said Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld.  “After jointly consulting with our team doctors and several specialists, we collectively determined that this proactive approach was the best course of action to have him ready for the upcoming season and to prevent the risk of further injury.” 

The procedure was performed by Dr. Drew Dossett in Dallas, TX.  Dudley missed four games last season due to a sore lower back in addition to playing through pain caused by the injury. 

“Although I’m disappointed that I won’t be on the floor with my new teammates for the start of training camp, I’m confident that having this surgery now will allow me to perform at my best and contribute throughout the season,” said Dudley.  “I appreciate the patience and support of the organization and I can assure my teammates and the fans that I will work extremely hard to be on the floor as soon as possible.”

Drew Gooden has agreed upon a one-year, $3.3 million deal to remain with the Washington Wizards.

Gooden has become a key rotation big for the Wizards over the past few seasons.

Alan Anderson has agreed upon a one-year, $4 million deal with the Washington Wizards.

Anderson will receive part of Washington's mid-level exception that they were hoping David West would take.

Anderson has spent the past two season with the Brooklyn Nets.

Anderson had a PER of 10.6 last season with the Nets.

David West decided to sign with the San Antonio Spurs for the veteran's minimum.

The offer was approximately $4 million less than what the Washington Wizards offered and $2 million less than the Golden State Warriors.

West sacrificed $11 million in declining his option with the Indiana Pacers to sign with the Spurs.

The Washington Wizards have agreed upon a one-year, $2.1 million deal with Gary Neal.

The Wizards used its bi-annual exception upon Neal.

Neal grew up in Baltimore and gets to play close to home with John Wall and Bradley Beal.

Beal last played with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Washington Wizards are shopping Nene this offseason.

Washington would like to trade Nene into another team's cap space to create room to sign David West.

The Denver Nuggets traded Nene to the Wizards in 2012 just months after signing him to a new contract.

David West is most likely to sign with the San Antonio Spurs or Washington Wizards.

West opted out of his contract with the Indiana Pacers in search of a title contender.

West also reportedly was interested in the Golden State Warriors.

The Washington Wizards have agreed upon a trade for Jared Dudley.

Dudley opted into his $4.25 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks on the final day before free agency.

Dudley will help the Wizards replace Paul Pierce.

The Bucks will receive a highly protected future round pick that will almost certainly become a second rounder.

Paul Pierce has agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers on a three-year deal. Pierce's deal will be for the mini-mid level for taxpaying teams with the first year worth $3.3 million and nearly $10 million in total. 

Pierce spent last season with the Washington Wizards.

Pierce rejoins Doc Rivers with the Clippers.

Pierce grew up in Los Angeles before playing collegiately at Kansas and spending his entire NBA career on the East Coast.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. has agreed upon a three-year, $14.4 million deal with the Chicago Bulls. Dunleavy will receive a partial guarantee on his contract in Year 3.

Dunleavy also drew interest from the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards.

Dunleavy joined the Bulls in 2013.
