Juwan Howard Signs Five-Year Extension At Michigan

Nov 17, 2021 9:27 AM

University of Michigan head coach Juwan Howard has inked a five-year contract extension. That will keep Howard with the Wolverines through the 2025-26 season.

In two-plus seasons at his alma mater, Howard has gone 44-17. He guided the Michigan to the NCAA Tournament in 2021 with a 23-5 record.

Before taking over the Wolverines program, Howard had interviewed for head coach jobs with several NBA teams. He served as an assistant coach with the Miami Heat from 2013 to 2019. That followed a 19-year playing career in the NBA, that saw Howard play for eight different franchises.

Fredrick King Commits To Louisville

Nov 9, 2021 11:18 AM

Fredrick King has committed to Louisville for the incoming class of 2022 where he will enroll as a 17-year-old.

King picked Louisville over a group of schools that included Creighton, Miami, Georgetown, Washington State.

King, who is from the Bahamas, was a complete unknown upon joining the NBA Academy in January, boasting zero division one scholarship offers prior to being seen at their event in Mexico for the first time.

The NBA currently has six academies: two in China; one each in New Delhi, India, San Luis Potosi, Mexico and Thies, Senegal; and its Global Academy serving as the hub for elite prospects in Canberra, Australia.

Dereck Lively has committed to Duke for the incoming class of 2022. Lively is the No. 2 recruit in the class.

Lively chose Duke over Kentucky.

"I like the whole idea of the Brotherhood, Duke basketball and Duke University," Lively told ESPN. "I believe next year's team has a chance to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament and maybe a national championship. After my playing career, a Duke degree is important to me."

Chris Livingston Commits To Kentucky

Sep 15, 2021 9:12 PM

Chris Livingston has committed to Kentucky, giving them their third five-star prospect in the incoming class of 2022.

Livingston chose Kentucky over Georgetown and Tennessee State, after removing Memphis from his list earlier this month.

"The history of the school and the basketball program attracted me," Livingston told ESPN. "What coach Cal has done with past players has been impressive. He is a down-to-Earth guy. For a coaching legend, he is easy to talk to. I like how he stays connected with his former players."

Emoni Bates Commits To Memphis

Aug 25, 2021 9:18 PM

Emoni Bates has committed to the University of Memphis as part of the incoming class of 2021.

Bates originally committed to Michigan State last summer before reopening his recruitment in April.

Bates had been ranked as the No. 1 player in the 2022 class since he first emerged on the recruiting scene early in his high school career, but he had an inconsistent junior season at Ypsi Prep (Michigan).

Bates and Jalen Duren are two of the four ESPN 100 prospects to commit to Memphis in the 2021 class.

Bates doesn't turn 18 until January, so he is too young to enter the 2022 NBA draft.

Almost a complete unknown a year ago, either unranked or on the fringes of the top 100 of most recruiting services, the Canadian-born Sharpe averaged 22.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 28 minutes over 12 games at the EYBL.

Sharpe says he will return to Dream City Christian in Glendale, Arizona, for his senior year of high school next week.

No. 2 Recruit Keyonte George Commits To Baylor

Aug 9, 2021 3:39 PM

Keyonte George has announced his commitment to Baylor.

George, who cut his list back in May, chose the Bears over Texas, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Kentucky. He took official visits to four of his final five schools, with Kentucky the exception.

Texas had been the favorite for most of the spring, but a commitment from Arterio Morris in mid-July seemed to shift the chase to Baylor.

George is ranked No. 4 in the ESPN 100 for 2022 -- but will move up to No. 2 with the top two prospects, Emoni Bates and Jalen Duren, reclassifying into 2021.

Emoni Bates Reclassifies For 2021 Incoming College Class

Aug 4, 2021 9:05 PM

Emoni Bates is reclassifying for the 2021 incoming class and could enroll in college for the upcoming season.

Bates announced on Instagram he's down to four options: Michigan State, where he decommitted from in the spring, Oregon, Memphis and the G League.

Bates doesn't turn 18 until January, so he is too young to enter the 2022 NBA draft.

Bates could end up playing college basketball for two years, or go to college for one year and then play in the G League or elsewhere for a year before entering the 2023 draft.
