Aleksej Pokusevski had hoped to suit up for Serbia at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, but he'll miss the event due to rehab from injury. Pokusevski is continuing to work his way back from a small fracture in his right humerus.

The Oklahoma City Thunder big man had hoped to play for the Serbian senior national team for the first time this summer, but that debut will have to wait. Pokusevski is expected to be fully recovered in time for training camp with the Thunder in late-September.

Serbia will be down several key players for the World Cup. In addition to Pokusevski, Nikola Jokic will not play, due to rest reasons after winning the 2023 NBA Finals. Vasilije Micic will sit out, as he transitions to the NBA for the upcoming season. Longtime Serbian national team members Nikola Kalinic and Vladimir Lucic are both out due to injuries.

Per a report from Mozzart Sport, Nikola Jokic will sit out of the upcoming FIBA World Cup. Jokic has chosen to rest, after the Denver Nuggets run to winning the NBA Finals.

The Serbian National Team is also expected to be without Vasilije Micic, as he's expected to focus on his transition to the NBA. Nikola Kalinic, who plays for Barcelona, is also expected to skip the tournament.

The USA Select team has added four players to practice and scrimmage against Team USA ahead of next month's FIBA World Cup. The teams will work against each other in Las Vegas at a training camp, before Team USA heads to the Philippines in August.

Quentin Grimes of the New York Knicks, Trey Murphy of the New Orleans Pelicans, Payton Pritchard of the Boston Celtics, and Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves will play for the Select team. Those four will join Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Chet Holmgren, Keegan Murray and Jalen Williams for the workouts.

Cade Cunningham, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Green and Keegan Murray are among the players that will join Team USA for training camp in Las Vegas. They will play on the U.S. Select Team as the Senior Team prepares for the FIBA World Cup.

The U.S. Select Team will be coached by Jamahl Mosley of the Orlando Magic.

Team USA has not formally announced its Select Team, which will include as many as 12 players. They will also be eligible to travel with the Senior Team to the Philippines and serve as a replacement if an injury occurs before the start of the Cup.
