Corey Brewer, cut loose by the Knicks last week, signed a multi-year deal with the Mavericks on Thursday.

Wearing No. 13, he could make his debut for Dallas against Indiana on Friday night.

"If we get a defensive situation where he can help us, we'll put him in there," coach Rick Carlisle said.

Brewer said he decided to come to Dallas because he wants to win. The final three teams he considered were the Mavericks, Spurs and Celtics.

"You always want to be a winner," Brewer said. "Once you taste winning, you want to keep winning. I haven't won since I got in the NBA. I'm happy to be on a winner."
