Ariza And Larry Brown Reconcile

Jan 28, 2009 1:19 PM

Larry Brown and Trevor Ariza had their share of differences when both were in New York during Brown's one turbulent season as the Knicks' head coach.

But Brown met with Ariza before an exhibition game last year and apologized to his former player.  In turn, Ariza expressed gratitude to Brown.

"I thanked him for everything he did for me," Ariza said. "As a young player, I didn't understand everything he was trying to tell me, so I looked at it as he was picking on me instead of listening to what he was saying. Now when I look back on it, I understand what he was saying. He taught me a lot, and I appreciate him for that."

Nash On Trades: 'I'm Over That'

Jan 24, 2009 5:03 PM

Phoenix point guard Steve Nash said on Friday that he's over the trade that sent friends Raja Bell and Boris Diaw to Charlotte earlier this season.

"I'm over that. I love having Jason and Jared on our team. I'll always be friends with Raja and Boris," Nash said. "Life goes on. It was tough on me because they were close friends. It was tough and maybe blown out of proportion because I found out boarding the bus on the way to a game. It's a business, and they like where they are, and we like our new additions."

Barbosa: Trade Is A Word We Always Hear

Jan 20, 2009 8:59 AM

The Suns have pulled the trigger on a number of significant trades in the last year, and guard Leandro Barbosa has tried to take the persistent rumors in stride.

"We are always going to deal with that," Barbosa said Monday night before facing the Celtics. "Trade is always a word that is going to be heard around the team. We never know when it's going to happen and who is going to go, but we always go to be prepared for something to happen."

Not long ago, Raja Bell and Boris Diaw, two fixtures in Phoenix, were traded to Charlotte for shooting guard Jason Richardson.

"We are always going to miss him [Diaw], he wasn't just a basketball player for us but also a member of our family. Everybody knows that this is a business, and that's why he had to go over there," Barbosa said. "We are happy for him and what he's been doing for himself and his new team. I'm happy for him."

Not surprisingly, Barbosa has kept in touch with his former teammates.

"I keep in touch, you know, with Boris and Raja too. We are really good friends so it was a tough situation for everybody when they left, but that is part of our job and this is a business and we understand. Every chance we get, we keep in touch."
