Will Bynum Frustrated By Ankle Injury

Jan 31, 2010 5:11 PM

Pistons guard Will Bynum has missed the team's last 15 games with a sprained left ankle.

Bynum took part in practice drills on Saturday, but he is still expected to miss Sunday's game against the Magic.

"It's frustrating in general. It's frustrating because it's my contract year. It's frustrating because we're losing. It's frustrating watching the games. It's frustrating challenging myself to stay inside of what we're doing as a team to keep myself going," Bynum said. "It's all that in one, and it's frustrating because it's new to me.

"But I'm constantly working at it and constantly trying to stay positive and just try to push through it."

He signed a two-year deal with Detroit before the 2008-09 season.

"It's tough, especially with so much negativity around as far as us losing games and negativity is the first thing that creeps up in your mind when you're down or losing something," Bynum said. "This is the time that builds character, which builds who you are, and I feel like going through these times do nothing but make you tougher."

Gordon Receives $1.3M Settlement

Jan 28, 2010 8:30 PM

Ben Gordon's former financial advisors were ruled by a judge to pay him more than $1.3 million in a dispute over a loan but found there was no breach of their fiduciary duty.

Judge Charles Kocoras handed down the decision Wednesday in a suit Gordon, a former Chicago Bull, filed against California-based Larry Harmon & Associates.

Kocoras ordered Harmon to repay with interest and penalties a $1 million loan from Gordon in 2007.

Dumars Isn't Ready To Make Deals Yet

Jan 27, 2010 5:11 PM

Pistons president Joe Dumars isn't ready to pull the trigger on any trades just yet.

Detroit has played just two games with a healthy roster this season.

Rumors linking the Pistons to Carlos Boozer, Chris Kaman and Amar'e Stoudemire are false, according to Dumars.

"It's hard to say what you have when you've had your team for just two games," Dumars said. "You don't know about your team. It's not like we've had our full complement of players and we have the record (15-28) we have.

"You don't know if you are a playoff team or not. So you don't talk about making trades."

Kuester, Prince Put Aside Their Differences

Jan 25, 2010 7:52 AM

Pistons coach John Kuester and forward Tayshaun Prince have put asides their differences following a shouting match on Friday.

The pair argued near the end of the team's blowout loss to the Pacers on Friday night.

"It was something that just happened during the course of the game, and we had our differences at that time," Prince said. "Obviously we were down 20 points at the time and it could all be a part of that.

"You move on from it, and you have more games to play."

Prince and Kuester would not reveal what was the actual issue, but both alluded to the fact that the team's losses has something to do with it.

"Honestly it happens more times than what people think," Prince said. "It's just a situation that happened on the court.

"A lot of times it happens in the locker room, a lot of times it's not as much as it seems."

Pistons Could Be A Tough Sell

Jan 22, 2010 8:00 AM

When Pistons owner Karen Davidson opts to sell the team she could have trouble getting full market value.

There are a number of ways Davidson can approach selling the franchise, but Mike Bernacchi, professor of economics at Detroit Mercy, doesn't think the team will sell for the $479 million value Forbes magazine projected recently.

"If the negotiating price is based on the Forbes value, there's not going to be many takers," said Bernacchi.

"People say Detroit is a great sports town, but that is way overvalued. It has to be a value based on what's happening now. I am sure the negotiations are going to be tough. The Pistons will want to sell based on what they were and what they've done. The buyer will want to buy it for where they are now and for where they are headed in the future."

Wayne State economics professor Stephen Spurr is more optimistic, hoping that the unemployment rate will soon decline and that more people will attend Pistons games.

"This is not a permanent situation," Spurr said of the economy. "It's going to come back."

Pistons Officially For Sale

Jan 20, 2010 9:54 PM

Karen Davidson confirmed Wednesday evening that she was pursuing the possibility of selling the franchise.

Her disclosure came two days after a person close to the situation told the Free Press that the Pistons were not for sale but could be soon.

"I'm pleased, as noted by Oscar Feldman, that the limited partners concur in my decision into inquiring about selling the team," Davidson said in a brief statement released through Marx Layne & Company.

Davidson assumed control of the franchise after the March 13 death of her husband, Bill. He purchased it for $8 million in 1974. Forbes places its value at $479 million, fourth-highest in the NBA.

Pistons Aren't For Sale, But Could Be Soon

Jan 19, 2010 7:50 AM

A source told the Detroit Free Press on Monday that the Pistons are not currently up for sale, but that could soon change.

There were reports on Monday that Karen Davidson might consider selling her late husband William's NBA franchise.

Such a deal would be extremely complex due to speculation that a sale could include a partnership with the Ilitch family, perhaps to build an arena that would host the Pistons and the Ilitch-owned Detroit Red Wings hockey team.
