Pistons May Be Looking For Point Guard

Apr 26, 2010 7:12 AM

The Pistons are in dire need of help in the frontcourt, but the Detroit Free-Press writes that the team could be in the market for a starting-caliber point guard as well.

Rodney Stuckey has received quite a bit of public support from the franchise, which makes the rumors a bit surprising.

Detroit has a 5.3% chance of landing the first overall pick in June's NBA Draft, which would give them the opportunity to draft Kentucky point guard John Wall.

Stuckey is considered a better scorer than set-up man.

Hamilton, Prince May Not Return To Detroit

Apr 16, 2010 4:42 PM

Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince have been mainstays in Detroit in recent years, but the pair could be on their way out.

Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free-Press writes that Hamilton and Prince are among the members of the Pistons that aren't expected back for next season.

The Pistons are expected to push the ball more and Hamilton is better in a half-court offense. He'll make $12.6 million next year.

Prince is entering a contract year and will make $11.1 million, which makes him easier to move than Hamilton.

Pistons coach John Kuester will return to the team next season.

The Detroit Free-Press points out that Kuester's security was established during his introductory press conference last year when president Joe Dumars said that the team was in a rebuilding phase and would roll with the rookie coach.

The Pistons enter Wednesday's action 26-55, the team's worst record in the last 10 years.

Kwame Brown Wants To Finish Strongly

Apr 6, 2010 6:28 AM

Kwame Brown would prefer to remain with the Pistons next season, but knows he can't control the situation entirely.

Brown signed a two-year deal with Detroit on Aug. 4, 2008, worth $8 million.

"I love this team, but I have no idea if I'll be back," Brown said. "That's not my job -- that's my agent's. Mine is to finish out the year strongly."

Brown said his admiration for Joe Dumars, Detroit's president of basketball operations, would be one reason for him staying.

"I respect Joe D," Brown said. "I wanted to be part of his winning ways when I signed with the Pistons."

Villanueva, Daye Vent On Twitter

Apr 6, 2010 6:25 AM

Pistons forwards Charlie Villanueva and Austin Daye used their Twitter pages to vent their frustrations on Monday.

However, neither will reveal exactly what they were upset about.

"This has been a very frustrating year," Villanueva posted late Monday afternoon. "It just only got worse today. I have never experienced, in my five years, what I have experienced this year."

Later, he posted: "Let's put it like this: I'd rather not say anything because I don't want to get fined," and later,
"I respect Joe Dumars so much that I will keep my mouth shut. Just needed to vent a little."

Daye, a rookie, made these posts:

"Everyone, I'm twisted (mad) right now, but when I'm in L.A., I'm going to work myself to death to try and get myself right for next year."

"Something happened to me today that won't ever happen again and I'm just venting right now, but I'm twisted mad and going to be ready for our game."

Ben Wallace Will Wait To Decide Future

Apr 3, 2010 3:04 PM

Pistons big man Ben Wallace will wait until after the season to decide if he still has a future in the NBA.

If he doesn't believe he has enough left in the tank, there's a possibility he could retire.

"It's according to how I feel once this thing is over with," said Wallace, who has battled a knee injury this season. "I'll sit down, chill for a minute, talk to the family and see how everything feels."

Wallace had eight points and seven rebounds on Friday night.

"Right now I'm feeling good, but if I was still hurting after the season, that would sway me in a certain direction," Wallace said. "We have a couple of more games, and hopefully I can stay healthy. That'll be the biggest influence on my decision."
