Greg Monroe will continue to be a trade candidate ahead of the deadline as he is scheduled to become a restricted free agent.
"It does, to be honest, especially when we're still trying to get things right here, and then to kind of see that stuff. ... I just try to focus on what we're doing here. I'm here. If that changes, then I'll move forward. But up until then, or if it never does, I'm just going to focus on playing these games and trying to win these games," Monroe said Wednesday.
Monroe splits time between center and power forward with the Detroit Pistons.
Monroe averages 14.3 points and 8.7 rebounds this season, his lowest since his rookie season. Monroe has adjusted to playing with Josh Smith.
"It's definitely been a change," Monroe said. "It's still a little bit of an adjustment. Like I've said, it was always more of an adjustment on the defensive end, guarding different kinds of players. But offensively, it is kind of a new system we're running, obviously, with new players and coaching staff. So it has been a little transition for me."
Rodney Stuckey is on an expiring contract and understands he could be moved by the Detroit Pistons at the trade deadline, but the veteran guard is not focusing on speculation and is worrying about playing.
The Pistons could look to acquire a player who will help space the court.
“I don’t think about it, I just try to come out and play,” Stuckey said. “You have to be prepared for whatever happens. I never think about when February comes around. I’m just trying to come out and play basketball. Everything else would take care of itself.
"Why wouldn’t you want a 3-point shooter to spread the floor? Anybody would take that. It’s not up to me, you’re putting a lot of heat on me. To tell the truth, it’s on (Joe Dumars) and the rest of those guys to make that decision."
The Detroit Pistons have recalled Peyton Siva and Tony Mitchell from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League (D-League).
Siva averaged 12.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.6 steals in five games (four starts) with Fort Wayne. He recorded 27 points, three rebounds, eight assists and eight steals vs. Iowa (1/3) after having 24 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals vs. Rio Grande Valley Vipers (12/28). Siva has appeared in 13 games this season with the Pistons averaging 0.3 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 5.8 minutes per game.
In six games (five starts) with the Mad Ants, Mitchell averaged 6.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.5 blocks in 22.1 minutes per game.
The Detroit Pistons have lost 11 of their 17 home games this season, many of which close down the stretch where the team is unable to come together.
The Pistons rank as the NBA's worst fourth quarter team and Maurice Cheeks senses anxiety among the players at certain times.
"If things happen over and over and over, and then as things continue to come about, you're going to have some anxiety about it," Cheeks said. "There's no question. That's with anybody and everything. But in order for it to stop, it has to happen, and we have to be successful in it."
