Dwyane Wade Opts For Free Agency

Jun 29, 2015 4:22 PM

Dwyane Wade has decided not to pick up his player option for the 15-16 season to become a free agent.

Wade is seeking a long-term deal and is believed to be far apart on years and dollars with the Miami Heat. Wade is seeking a deal that would average at least $16 million per season over three seasons. The Heat had preferred for Wade to work with the team on a new contract after the 2016 free agency period.

Wade has given up money over the years to help Miami's salary cap to sign other players, including opting out last year.

Nuggets, Heat Express Interest In Eric Moreland In Trade Talks With Kings

Jun 25, 2015 1:56 PM

The Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat have discussed deals with the Sacramento Kings involving forward Eric Moreland, league sources told RealGM.

The talks are expected to be centered on larger trade scenarios and bigger names, but Moreland — a 6-foot-10 shot blocker — intrigues the Nuggets and Heat, sources said.

Pete D’Alessandro and Mike Malone served as Moreland’s GM and head coach, respectively, this past season.

Moreland had a stellar summer league for the Kings a year ago, averaging 3.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in 19.7 minutes per game. He appeared in three regular-season games and underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in January.

Moreland played his college basketball at Oregon State, going unselected in the 2014 NBA Draft before landing a multi-year contract with the Kings.

Mavericks Targeting Danny Green As Monta Ellis Pursues Deal On East Coast

Jun 24, 2015 8:11 PM

As Monta Ellis pursues a new deal on the east coast, the Dallas Mavericks are targeting San Antonio Spurs free agent Danny Green, league sources told RealGM.

Ellis plans to discuss a long-term contract with the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat in free agency after opting out of the final year of his contract on Wednesday, sources told RealGM. He had an option worth $8.72 million.

As the prime template of a three-and-defense player in today's NBA, Green could command around $10 to $12 million annually as an unrestricted free agent, a former second-round NBA draft selection who will land his first major contract.

Green holds the NBA Finals record for three-pointers set in 2013. Green has a strong desire to return to the Spurs, sources said, but free agency could hold more lucrative deals elsewhere.
