Feb 19, 2009 8:21 PM

The Memphis Grizzlies acquired from the Orlando Magic their 2009 unprotected first round draft pick, guard Mike Wilks, center Adonal Foyle and cash considerations and sent guard Kyle Lowry to the Houston Rockets as part of a three-team trade, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.  As part of the trade, Orlando will receive guard Rafer Alston from Houston in exchange for forward Brian Cook.

?It was difficult to part with Kyle Lowry,? Wallace said. ?He has been an important part of our team the last three seasons.  With the emergence of Mike Conley, we decided that the acquisition of Orlando?s unprotected first round pick was a good move to make.  We now will enter the upcoming draft with two first round selections and three picks overall, likely inside the first 37 picks.?

Grizzlies Could Land Beasley In Three-Way

Feb 12, 2009 10:49 AM

Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley acknowledged his recent involvement in trade discussions regarding All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire and said he rejected the Phoenix Suns? proposal.

?We had conversations,? Heisley said Wednesday, confirming a Yahoo Sports report that Phoenix owner Robert Sarver initiated contact with Memphis. ?But there is no deal on the table. I think they?ll go somewhere else.?

The Suns are said to have asked the Griz to consummate a deal that included forwards Rudy Gay and Hakim Warrick, and point guard Mike Conley.

The likelihood of Stoudemire going to Memphis is slim, but several NBA insiders asserted that Phoenix and Miami would like Memphis to facilitate a deal that would send Stoudemire to join Dwyane Wade. One scenario has the Grizzlies possibly acquiring Heat rookie forward Michael Beasley in the three-way transaction.
