According to a source, the Knicks offered to purchase the Grizzlies' 27th pick for $3 million but were turned down.

The Knicks also have interest in trading for center Darko Milicic, possibly in exchange for Quentin Richardson.  Both Milicic and Richardson are entering the final year of their contracts.

Marko Jaric and his wife Adriana Lima are expecting their first child, according to People Magazine.

Grizzlies director of player personnel Tony Barone Sr. traveled to Spain to watch Ricky Rubio play for DKV Joventut.

Barone came away very impressed, especially after Rubio completely altered a game in which Joventut was losing.

After injuring his groin in a quarterfinal game, Rubio didn't enter Game 2 until long after Joventut had started struggling.

He excelled, posting 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals en route to a 82-77 win.

The kid," Barone said, "has the ability to lead a team."

Grizzles general manager Chris Wallace and coach Lionel Hollins spent Saturday in Spain to scout Rubio again, despite internet reports that the point guard's camp doesn't want him in Memphis.

The Grizzles had productive talks with the agent for Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio on Friday.

"We had a productive and wide-ranging discussion. It was a good meeting," Memphis general manager Chris Wallace said.

DraftExpress.com reported earlier in the week that Rubio might not want to play for the Grizzles.

"I also talked to him about some of his other clients," Wallace added. "We're very early in this process."

The Grizzles plan to visit Spanish guard Ricky Rubio, despite internet reports that he doesn't want to play for Memphis.

General manager Chris Wallace and head coach Lionel Hollins will travel to Spain on Friday afternoon to watch Rubio play in an ACB League playoff game.

"We're going to scout him. Lionel hasn't seen him, and I haven't seen him this year," said Wallace. "As for the rumors, we've not talked to the player or his family or his agent."

The Grizzles have the second overall pick in next month's NBA Draft.

Ricky Rubio has some leverage in influencing which team selects him due to a necessary buyout from his team in Spain.  His American agent Dan Fegan tried to shape where Yi Jianlian was selected in 2007, but was unsuccessful due to Milwaukee taking a hard line and no real alternative in his foreign contract.

?Rubio doesn?t want to go to Memphis, and he especially does not want to pay money out of his own pocket with that huge buyout for the honor of doing so," said a source that spoke to DraftExpress.com.  "Fegan wants him in L.A., and if he can?t have him there, he wants him in Sacramento. Definitely not Oklahoma City.

?He?ll pull out if he doesn?t like what he?s hearing,? continued the source. ?Or he can stay in and force the Grizzlies to call his bluff?would they really take him knowing that he may never come over? That?s one way to get him to fall to three.?

Darius Miles was pulled over on Wednesday night in a St. Louis suburb for allegedly failing to use a turn signal.

Police ticketed him for driving with a suspended license. After the car was towed away, police say a search of it uncovered a misdemeanor amount of marijuana in a bag.

Miles is currently free on bond.
