Gay Wants To Stay In Memphis

Aug 31, 2009 7:23 AM

Rudy Gay has heard his name mentioned in a few trade rumors, but would prefer to remain with the Grizzlies.

Gay will become an restricted free agent next summer if Memphis doesn't sign him to an extension by Oct. 31.

Neither Gay nor the Grizzlies would predict whether an agreement is likely to be reached by the deadline.

"I know what I can do on the basketball court," Gay told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "Everything else will work itself out. I love Memphis. Memphis has been my home. This is where I want to be. I really believe this is where I can make big things happen for myself and the Grizzlies."

Grizzlies Confirm Talks With Iverson

Aug 27, 2009 10:50 AM

Chris Wallace told ESPN.com Wednesday night that negotiations between Memphis and Allen Iverson have advanced to the point where the Grizzlies have made their first formal offer.

"We're heading into the home stretch before the season, and we have had interest in Allen all summer," Wallace said. "We've been in touch on a fairly consistent basis and had dialogue with his agent, Leon Rose, since the beginning of free agency."

Memphis is approximately $3.5 million under the salary cap for the 2009-10 season and thus could easily outbid Charlotte and Miami for Iverson.

In a statement released on Thursday, Wallace said the Grizzlies have not made Iverson an offer.

Aug 24, 2009 4:09 PM

The Timberwolves are in need of a versatile small forward, and Rudy Gay could be a viable option.

Gay, who can become a restricted free agent next summer, might not be affordable for the Grizzlies.

The Pioneer Press writes that Ricky Rubio might be a trade chip, but there would be sizeable hoops to jump through in order to make that happen.
