The Boston Celtics will hire Ronald Nored in a player development role.

Nored played collegiately at Butler and was briefly an assistant coach at South Alabama.

Nored will have a role with the Celtics' D-League team.

The Charlotte Bobcats defeated the D-League Select by a final score of 85-75 in Summer League play on Saturday.

Abdul Gaddy had 17 points on 6-for-7 shooting.

Darnell Jackson had 12 points and nine rebounds, while Kyle Weaver had 10 points in 15 minutes.

The NBA D-League Select defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves by a final score of 83-75 in Summer League play on Thursday.

Brian Butch led the D-League with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Ron Howard added 14 points with 12 of those points coming at the line.

Shabazz Muhammad had just six points on 2-for-8 shooting.

The D-League Select defeated the Dallas Mavericks by a final score of 82-75 in Summer League play on Tuesday.

Kyle Weaver scored 15 points and four rebounds to lead the D-League.

Josh Akognon had 20 points, four rebounds and three steals.

Most players not on NBA contracts participate in Summer League play without compensation.

The opportunity for exposure in front of NBA teams is worth it to the aspiring players, who may make more money overseas.

Flight and hotel accommodations are paid by the teams.

An all-time high fourteen NBA teams will have single NBA D-League affiliates including first-year partnerships between the Miami Heat and Sioux Falls Skyforce, Philadelphia 76ers and Delaware 87ers, and Sacramento Kings and Reno Bighorns.

Of the 17 NBA D-League teams playing during the 2013-14 season, six are fully owned and operated by their NBA affiliates: the Austin Toros (San Antonio Spurs), Canton Charge (Cleveland Cavaliers), Delaware 87ers (Philadelphia 76ers), Los Angeles D-Fenders (Los Angeles Lakers), Santa Cruz Warriors (Golden State Warriors), and Tulsa 66ers (Oklahoma City Thunder). The Erie BayHawks (New York Knicks), Idaho Stampede (Portland Trail Blazers), Maine Red Claws (Boston Celtics), Rio Grande Valley Vipers (Houston Rockets), Reno Bighorns (Sacramento Kings), Sioux Falls Skyforce (Miami Heat) and Springfield Armor (Brooklyn Nets) are the seven NBA D-League teams with ‘hybrid’ single-affiliation partnerships, where NBA teams control the NBA D-League affiliates’ basketball operations. The Dallas Mavericks remain solely affiliated with the Texas Legends.

The remaining three NBA D-League teams will have five or six NBA parent teams: Bakersfield Jam (Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors, Utah Jazz), Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Charlotte Bobcats, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Memphis Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic), Iowa Energy (Chicago Bulls, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, Washington Wizards).

The D-League Select defeated the Los Angeles Clippers by a final score of 81-77 in Summer League play on Sunday.

Elijah Millsap had 21 points (15-for-20 from the line) and seven rebounds. 

Reggie Bullock scored 18 points on 4-for-12 shooting from the line. Samardo Samuels had 15 oints and six rebounds.

Stefhon Hannah led the D-League with 23 points.

Shabazz Muhammad scored seven points on 3-for-7 shooting.

The 2013 D-League Select Summer League team was announced on Monday.

Darnell Jackson, Kyle Weaver, Mickell Gladness and Brian Butch headline the team.
