The Minnesota Timberwolves made a bold move in trading for Rudy Gobert and the follow-up to it if it continues to be a disappointment could be a trade of Karl-Anthony Towns to try to repair the situation. Towns has been out since November with a calf injury and the franchise has tiled even more heavily toward Anthony Edwards in his absence.
"It has felt like the inevitable end game where at the very least it is something that is talked about between teams," said Zach Lowe on his podcast of potential chatter around the Wolves trading Towns.
"Teams are already talking about it," Jon Krawczynski replied. "There's no doubt that other teams are eyeing this situation and looking to see if KAT will become available.
"I can tell you from everyone that I've talked to within the organization, they very much believe in KAT. They believe that once he comes back and they have some time to build around ANT and Gobert and KAT, they very much believe that can still work. Chris Finch believes it. Tim Connelly believes it. They don't have any plans to trade him.
"But if the bottom falls out of this thing and they go forward that way, there are going to be teams knocking on the door. I do think that overall, especially locally here, there's a lack of appreciation among fans for what Karl-Anthony Towns is as a player."
Quin Snyder joined Octagon as a client earlier in the month before becoming head coach of the Atlanta Hawks.
Octagon President Phil de Picciotto is representing Snyder and negotiated his contract with the Hawks.
Snyder was previously represented by Warren LeGarie.
Damian Lillard is running out of ways to say that he doesn't want to leave the Portland Trail Blazers. But that doesn't stop the questions from coming about how long Lillard will stay with the only NBA team he's ever known.
Lillard said he thinks about winning a title in Portland all the time, but that there's more to his career than winning a title.
"If it didn't happen," he added, "I wouldn't feel good about it. But I'm always going to say that I'm invested in the journey, because there's a lot of moments that I'll cherish that I'll always appreciate whether I get there or not."
For Lillard, that journey is as important as the end destination. And part of that journey remains staying committed to staying in Portland.
"To that point," Lillard said, "I'm also willing to die on that hill."

Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry has reached agreement to sell his stake in the team to Jimmy and Dee Haslam of Haslam Sports Group. The valuation agreed to was $3.5 billion.
Lasry is selling his 25 percent share of the Bucks after nearly nine years of ownership. Lasry and Wes Edens bought the majority of the franchise from Herb Kohl in April 2014. Kohl still retains a significant minority investment in the Bucks.
Under Edens and Lasry's ownership, the Bucks won the 2021 NBA Finals. The duo also helped push through the building of the Fiserv Forum. The Bucks have played there since October 2018.
The $3.5 billion valuation is the second-highest in NBA history, following the recent $4 billion valuation of the Phoenix Suns when Mat Ishbia purchased the team earlier this year. Haslam Sports Group also owns the NFL's Cleveland Brown and MLS's Columbus Crew.
The Atlanta Hawks have hired Quin Snyder on a five-year contract to be their head coach.
Snyder is expected to make his debut as soon as Tuesday at home against the Washington Wizards.
The Hawks pursued Snyder immediately after firing Nate McMillan.
Snyder and Trae Young have both expressed enthusiasm about working together, and that partnership will go a long way to determining the success of the franchise. After a recent game, Donovan Mitchell praised Snyder in a private conversation with Young.
There are pronounced chemistry and leadership issues in the Hawks locker room.
Joe Prunty and the rest of the Hawks' coaching staff are expected to be retained with Snyder for the remainder of the season
