Kendrick Nunn De-Commits From Texas A&M

Sep 30, 2011 4:16 PM

Chicago Simeon's Kendrick Nunn has de-committed form Texas A&M.

Nunn committed to Texas A&M and is ranked as the No. 17 shooting guard in the class of 2013.

"He just felt he committed too soon without going through the normal process of being recruited and going on other campus visits and seeing other stuff," Simeon coach Rob Smith said. "Texas A&M is still one of his top schools. He had a conversation with their coaching staff already. They know it's a business and things happen like that when kids commit early."

Illinois, Memphis, Pittsburgh and Syracuse are among the schools recruiting Nunn now.

Wisconsin Beats Out North Carolina To Land Bronson Koenig

Sep 27, 2011 11:20 AM

Bronson Koenig, a 6-foot-2 combo guard has committed to Wisconsin.

Koenig was also being pursued by North Carolina, Virginia and even Duke expressed interest in the summer. He is the No. 26 player in the class of 2013.

The pursuit of Koenig by Roy Williams made it more difficult for Wisconsin to convince Koenig to stay close to home. Koenig is frequently compared to Kirk Hinrich, who Williams coached at Kansas.

"Wisconsin has raised the bar a little bit and their program is really strong right now," Aquinas coach Rick Schneider said. "That's very attractive to an in-state recruit like Bronson. He feels like this is a great opportunity to play in front of people that know him really well." The Badgers are a formidable basketball team from a national perspective. They don't typically recruit nationally and like many of their Big Ten brethren rely on in-state and regional recruits. For that reason, a decision like Koenig's goes a long way in forming the recruiting perception for future recruits.

"Wisconsin's had a lot of success in the Big Ten, they're a staple in the NCAA Tournament," Schneider said. "Kids want to compete and play in the NCAA every year and Wisconsin's going to provide that for him."

Butler Receives Commit From Nolan Berry

Sep 27, 2011 11:17 AM

Nolan Berry, a 6-foot-8 power forward, committed to the Bulldogs after unofficially visiting Boston College and Butler last weekend.

Kevin Poelker, Berry's coach, saw Butler as the perfect fit.

"I certainly knew (Butler) academically because we had kids go there from our school," Poelkner said. "It was more about academics than athletics (in the past). We know what they've done in basketball. [Berry's] a high-major recruit but he's not your typical high-major personality.

"He's a highly skilled face-up four man. He can shoot it from 3, get to the rim and can finish at the rim. He's a great passing big man, especially for the high school level. His basketball IQ is a big part of his game."
