Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to league sources, has been engaged in contract negotiations with Malcolm Thomas.

Thomas appeared in five games this summer for the Bulls in the NBA summer league, averaging 11.4 points and 12.4 rebounds.

The 6-foot-7 forward spent part of last season with Ulsan Mobis Phoebus of the South Korean pro league.

D.J. White has agreed one a one-year deal with the Shaghai Sharks, according to a source.

White will be free to join an NBA team when the Chinese Basketball Association season ends in March.

Josh Akognon signed a fully guaranteed contract with Liaoning in China for the 12-13 season.

But the contract contains an out-clause to go to an NBA team, which has been exercised for Akognon to join the Dallas Mavericks on a non-guaranteed contract, a source told RealGM.

Akognon will return to Lianoning if the Mavericks decide not to keep him on their regular season roster.

Akognon is a 5-11 point guard out of Cal State Fullerton, who played in China and the D-League last season.

Maccabi Tel Aviv released Pops Mensah-Bonsu after medical tests showed Mensah-Bonsu still hadn’t recovered from a knee injury suffered this summer with the British National Team.

Mensah-Bonsu averaged 11.5 points and 7.3 rebounds for Great Britain during the Olympic Games in London.

Adam Morrison has signed a make-good training camp deal with the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Blazers will have a roster spot available due to Elliot Williams' Achilles tear and season-ending surgery.

Morrison played for Besiktas in the Turkish league last season.

Pooh Jeter signed a free agent contract with the Shandong Flaming Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association.

Jeter spent last season with Joventut Badalona, where he averaged 11.5 points and 2.9 assists over 31 games in the Spanish ACB.

Jeter appeared in 61 games for the Sacramento Kings during the 2010-11 season.

Curtis Stinson has signed a one-year deal with Cedevita Zagreb of the Croatian League.

Stinson arrives from the D-League Iowa Energy, where he averaged 11.3 points on 44.7 percent shooting in 28 games this past season.

Stinson was named D-League MVP two years ago after averaging 19.3 points, a league-best 9.8 assists and 5.7 rebounds.

Atlanta Hawks' head coach Larry Drew went to Israel recently to meet with and observe Maccabi Tel Aviv head coach David Blatt.

“Larry respects the international game and is enjoying the opportunity to share ideas with David Blatt,” Danny Ferry wrote in a text message. “David is a heckuva coach and I know that Larry appreciates that David has been so open. I know Larry is enjoying the opportunity to closely watch [Maccabi's] program. It is a highly respected program.”

Blatt also coach the Russian team to the Bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics.

Free agent forward Malcolm Thomas is in New York and will work out for the Knicks over the next two days in an effort to land the team’s final guaranteed roster spot, league sources told RealGM on Wednesday.

The Knicks’ front office has long been impressed with Thomas, but workouts on Wednesday and Thursday are meant to showcase the 23-year-old in front of the team's coaching staff.

While New York added several players to its training camp roster on Tuesday, Thomas is vying for a guaranteed contract with the Knicks, who currently have one such slot available. Seeking guaranteed money, Thomas’ agency has made it clear that he will not sign a training camp deal.

Thomas shined as a key contributor on the Chicago Bulls’ summer league team in July, being selected to the Vegas All-Star squad with averages of 11.4 points and 12.4 rebounds.

Over the past week, Thomas has been sorting through offers from NBA, EuroLeague and Chinese teams.

Robbie Hummel has sustained a meniscus injury in his right knee while playing in Spain.

Hummel tore his ACL twice in 10 months in 2010.

Hummel signed to play in Spain this season with the approval of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Hummel will return to the United States to undergo surgery with an expected recovery time of four to six weeks.
