All three players fit with their plans of playing faster and smaller with more perimeter shooting.

After reaching the second round of the playoffs a season ago, the Wizards were in the lottery and parted ways with Randy Wittman.

Wizards Don't Expect To Sign Kevin Durant

Jun 26, 2016 4:33 PM

The Washington Wizards believe it is unlikely they will sign Kevin Durant in free agency.

The Wizards have been setting up for a pursuit of Durant in the 2016 offseason for several years. Durant grew up in the Washington area and the hope was he would be intrigued by a homecoming.

"It's not like LeBron and Cleveland," a source told McHenry.

Washington hired Scott Brooks as head coach, who worked with Durant for several seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Wizards must contend this offseason with the restricted free agency of Bradley Beal.

Celtics, Clippers, Heat, Warriors, Spurs, Thunder Get Meetings With Kevin Durant

Jun 25, 2016 11:16 AM

Represenatives of Kevin Durant at Roc Nation are working to solidify invitations with the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Durant is expected to take the meetings in New York but teams are still awaiting a decision on the final location.

The Thunder remain the frontrunners to re-sign Durant on a one-plus-one contract, according to sources.

But sources say the Warriors, more than than any other rival team, have Durant's attention.

The Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets and Washington Wizards could still capture meetings with Durant but are currently outside the process.

Durant will leave for a publicity tour in the Far East on July 9th and a decision is expected before he departs.

Wizards Preparing Max Offer To Joakim Noah

Jun 24, 2016 2:52 PM

The Washington Wizards are prepared to make a major offer to Joakim Noah in free agency.

Washington will offer Noah a full maximum contract, according to the report.

Noah is coming off shoulder surgery that ended his season in January.

Noah is expected to leave the Chicago Bulls this offseason and they traded for Robin Lopez previously this week. A source said Noah has no intentions of re-signing with the Bulls and is ready to move on this offseason.

The New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks are also preparing major offers to Noah.

“If teams are convinced Noah is healthy, he will get a max deal, and Washington is panicking because Nene is done and they didn’t make the playoffs last season,’’ said one GM. “They’ll overpay for Noah — they always do.’’

John Wall Giving Kevin Durant Space Ahead Of Free Agency

Jun 4, 2016 2:33 PM

The Washington Wizards have been planning to pursue Kevin Durant for several seasons but they missed out on the playoffs and took a step backwards in 15-16.

The Wizards had been considered a potential destination for Durant as his hometown and with their core of Wall and Bradley Beal.

Wall and Durant have formed a good friendship over the years and he's been outspoken about wanting to play with him.

"If he comes, he comes, if not, got to make other plans," Wall said. "But that’s something I haven’t talked to him about. I’m not willing to right now. He just came off a tough series. I’m trying to give him a couple of weeks, a month off, to think about what he wants to do."

The Wizards also hired Scott Brooks as head coach, who worked with Durant for several seasons with the Thunder.
