The Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns have interest in executing a Kyrie Irving trade.
Eric Bledsoe has been a consistent player included in discussions.
The Suns also own Miami's first-round pick, which is partially protected in 2018. The Cavaliers are also seeking the inclusion of Josh Jackson in a trade. Phoenix has ruled out the possibility of trading Devin Booker.
"If that deal (Bledsoe, Miami first rounder and Jackson) for Irving was there, it'd be done by now," a league source with knowledge of the Cavs' thinking said.
Jackson cannot be traded until after August 4th.
The Indiana Pacers have waived Kevin Seraphin.
Seraphin had a guarantee date coming up on his deal.
Seraphin averaged 4.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in 11.4 minutes per game last season with the Pacers.
The Pacers signed Seraphin to a two-year, $3.6 million deal.
The Atlanta Hawks have requested waivers on Diamond Stone.
Stone appeared in seven games last season with the Los Angeles Clippers. Stone was traded to the Hawks in the Jamal Crawford trade in early July.
Stone was a second round pick in 2016 out of Maryland.
The Orlando Magic have waived guard-forward Marcus Georges-Hunt.
Georges-Hunt was signed as a free agent by Orlando on April 3, 2017.
Georges-Hunt played in five games last season during his rookie campaign with the Magic, averaging 2.8 ppg. and 1.8 rpg. in 9.5 minpg. He also made his NBA debut on April 4 at Cleveland, recording one rebound in four minutes, and scored his first NBA points on April 6 vs. Brooklyn, finishing with career-highs of eight points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes. Prior to being signed by Orlando, Georges-Hunt played in 45 games (40 starts) with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA G League, averaging 15.8 ppg., 6.2 rpg., 4.5 apg. and 1.02 stlpg. in 36.4 minpg., while shooting .392 (74-of-189) from 3-point range and .888 (159-of-179) from the free throw line. The New York Knicks never offered Derrick Rose even a contract at the veteran's minimum.
Rose signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on a one-year, $2.1 million deal. Rose spent one season with the Knicks.
The Knicks drafted Frank Ntilikina in June as their point guard of the future.
“Did we miss something?,” Rose’s agent B.J. Armstrong asked The Post. “Is there something going [on] in New York we didn’t see? We all would agree they are on a different timeline than Derrick — a young team with great young talent there and trying to build something for the future. They’re not on the same timeline as players who are a little older and experienced.
“It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out Derrick’s best basketball is right now. The Knicks aren’t ready to compete at that level right now. It could be three, four years.”
Rose is coming off his fourth surgery after playing 64 games with the Knicks.
The Miami Heat can offer Josh Richardson an extension beginning on Thursday.
Richardson can be offered as much as $43 million over four seasons. If Richardson declines an extension offer, he can become a restricted free agent in 2018.
The Heat and Richardson are expected to hold serious discussions.
Richardson will earn $1.5 million this upcoming season regardless of whether he accepts the extension.
Kyrie Irving agreed upon a five-year, $90 million max extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers 10 days before LeBron James returned to the franchise.
At that time in 2014, Irving reportedly "didn't particularly care for James to return to Cleveland."
After three straight trips to The Finals, Irving no longer wants to play alongside James.
“Kyrie isn’t saying he’s better than LeBron and should be seen that way,” a close confidant of Irving’s told ESPN. “He’s saying he’s not about to let LeBron ‘SON’ him … treating him like he’s the child and LeBron’s the father or big brother he’s supposed to look up to.
“Kyrie knows he’s a franchise-caliber talent. He wants to be treated like it. And he’s tired of hearing about what LeBron needs, and he’s damn sure tired of hearing LeBron sound like he always needs more. As if the crew they have isn’t enough.”
