Basketball Africa League Announce Host Cities For Inaugural Season In 2020

Cairo (Egypt), Dakar (Senegal), Lagos (Nigeria), Luanda (Angola), Rabat (Morocco), and either Monastir or Tunis (Tunisia) will be the host cities for the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League.

Kigali (Rwanda) will host the first ever BAL final four and final.

Nike and Jordan Brand will outfit the teams as its main sponsor. 

The league will begin play in March 2020.

Khimki Moscow have signed Timofey Mozgov for the 2019-20 season.

Mozgov, who was traded to the Magic last year, sat out the entire 2018-19 season due to a knee injury.

“Everyone is waiting and loving me here. Khimki is my hometown. I have a lot to do with the club and the city. The upcoming season will be very important both for me and the team,” said Mozgov.

Mitch Creek Signs With South East Melbourne Phoenix

Mitch Creek has agreed to sign with the South East Melbourne Phoenix.

“I'm really excited to get back to Melbourne and start preparing for the NBL season. The Phoenix have been really supportive of me the last few months, I couldn't have asked for more, and I’m more than going to repay the favour,” he said. "I love the recent additions to the team and can't wait to get to work. If you were thinking about signing on as a Phoenix member do it now, it’s going to be an exciting season.”

Creek played for the Brooklyn Nets and Minnesota Timberwolves last season.

“I did everything humanly possible to make my NBA dream come true and have no regrets. From the second I got out of bed until after I go to bed, I made sure I leave impressions on everyone. Knowing all that I can live with the results,” Creek said.

Peja Stojakovic cited the amount of NBA talent on Serbia's national team for his confidence ahead of this summer's FIBA Basketball World Cup.

"With guys like (Bogdan) Bogdanovic, (Nemanja) Bjelica, (Milos) Teodosic, (Nikola) Jokic and all the others, you can go far in the competition and bring something back home. They're one of the best teams in the world and they are going to have a great campaign this summer," said Stojakovic.

Serbia are in Group D alongside Italy, Angola, and the Philippines. 

Serbia came in second at the 2014 FIBA World Cup, the 2016 Olympics, and FIBA EuroBasket 2017

"I love the talent and chemistry in the national team. There are so many guys, so much talent on this team. I'm looking forward to seeing them play in China and I think that they have every reason to be ambitious after what they've done the last couple of years."

Joakim Noah is getting recruited by the New Zealand Breakers, league sources told Marc Stein of The New York Times.

The Breakers, who play in the National Basketball League, is owned by Noah's former college teammate Matt Walsh.

The 34-year-old Noah is seen as a "dream signing" for the Breakers. 

Noah is reportedly receiving NBA interest and said to be taking a "selective" approach about where he plays next season.

Ben Simmons 'Doubtful' To Play For Australia In FIBA World Cup

Ben Simmons is "doubtful" to play for Australia in the upcoming FIBA World Cup, his agent Rich Paul told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Simmons implied that he would play in the tournament earlier in May.

The Australian team will still feature Joe InglesAndrew BogutPatty Mills, and Aron Baynes. 

Australia are in Group H with Canada, Senegal, and Lithuania. Group play begins on August 31st.
