Melli is a 28-year-old big who has played for Fenerbache since 2017.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Says He Wants To Play In Upcoming Basketball World Cup

Giannis Antetokounmpo said he plans to play for Greece in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup during an unveiling of his new signature sneaker from Nike.

“I haven’t talked with the coach yet, I don’t know which position I will play in. But I don’t care. I just want to play. Whether I play as a guard or as a center, I don’t care. I’m a basketball player. I want to help the team in every way," said Antetokounmpo.

Greece are in Group F alongside Brazil, New Zealand, and Montenegro. The competition begins in China on August 31st.

Andrew Wiggins Commits To Canada For FIBA World Cup

Andrew Wiggins will play for Team Canada at this summer's FIBA Basketball World Cup, according to Arash Madani of Sportsnet.

“I think the Raptors are clearly Canada’s team...but we actually do have a Canada basketball team that represents our country and I’m expecting now the support that I’ve seen and the awareness that I’ve seen in this game," Canadian men's basketball GM Rowan Barrett told Madani after revealing the news about Wiggins.

Canada are in Group H with Australia, Lithuania and Senegal. 

The announcement comes on the heels of Nick Nurse's commitment to coaching the team this summer.

LaMelo Ball Signs With Illawarra Hawks Of Australia

LaMelo Ball has agreed to sign with the Illawarra Hawks of the Australian National Basketball League on a two-year deal with NBA out clauses.

Ball played for a year in Lithuania in 2018, which compromised his NCAA eligibility

"My agents did a ton of research on the options I had to play this coming season and Australia really made sense for me," Ball told ESPN. "They have a really strong league, with excellent coaches and great players, including former and future NBA players, and great strength and conditioning programs. My goal is to be the top pick in next year's Draft and I feel they can help me reach that goal. Also, the timing of the season works well with the timing of next year's Draft."

Ball is the No. 21 prospect in the incoming college class of 2019.

Steven Adams To Sit Out FIBA Basketball World Cup

Steven Adams will not play for New Zealand at this summer's FIBA Basketball World Cup, although he did keep the door open to play should the team qualify for the 2020 Olympics.

“Steven’s support of the Tall Blacks and his interest in playing for the program at some point down the line is unwavering. While he won’t be participating this year with the National Team, his plan is to evaluate the opportunity to play in the 2020 Olympics following the upcoming NBA season," said Adams in a statement.

New Zealand are in Group F alongside Brazil, Greece, and Montenegro.

Rudy Gobert, Nic Batum, Frank Ntilikina, Evan Fournier, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, and Nando de Colo highlighted the NBA experience on France's preliminary 15-player roster for the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Head coach Vincent Collet named Batum, Golbert, De Colo, Fournier, Vincent Poirier, and Mathias Lessort as essential players on the team.

France are in Group G with the Dominican Republic, Germany and Jordan.

Ettore Messina Leaves Spurs To Become Coach, President Of Olimpia Milano

Ettore Messina has agreed to become head coach and president of Olimpia Milano.

Messina joined the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach in 2014.

Messina served as interim head coach at the end of the 18-19 season when Gregg Popovich was on bereavement leave. Messina had been a candidate for several head coaching jobs.

The Spurs have also lost Ime Udoka this offseason.

Serbia coach Aleksandar Djordjevic announced their preliminary 34 player roster for the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The roster includes several players with NBA experience, including Nikola Jokic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nemanja Bjelica, and Boban Marjanovic.

Serbia took second place in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, losing to Team USA in the finals.

Team USA Rounding Out 18-Player Training Camp Roster For FIBA World Cup

USA Basketball is rounding out its training camp roster in preparation for the FIBA World Cup in August. 

Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Bradley Beal, and Kevin Love are all expected to join the training camp, according to Adrian Wojnarwoski.

Other players in the 18-player training camp include: Anthony DavisJames Harden, Eric GordonJayson TatumDonovan MitchellKhris Middleton, Brook LopezLaMarcus AldridgeAndre Drummond, and Kyle Kuzma. 

The training camp is set to take place from August 5th-8th, with Gregg Popovich taking 12 players to China.

Kemba Walker Commits To Team USA; James Harden, Anthony Davis Likely To Join

USA Basketball's roster for this summer's FIBA World Cup is rounding into shape with a commitment from Kemba Walker, according to Marc Stein. Stein also reports that Anthony Davis and James Harden are likely to join Walker on the roster.

Stein added that Donovan Mitchell is gaining momentum for a roster spot.

USA Basketball officials are also gauging interest on Zion Williamson's availability.

The World Cup runs from August 31st to September 15th.
