Jazz Sign Jarrell Brantley, Justin Wright-Foreman To Two-Way Contracts

The Utah Jazz have signed Jarrell Brantley and Justin Wright-Foreman to Two-Way contracts.

Brantley (6-7, 250, Charleston) was originally drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft (50th overall) before being traded to Utah on draft night. Brantley appeared in two games during the Salt Lake City Summer League, averaging 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.0 assists in 27.5 minutes.

Wright-Foreman (6-2, 190, Hofstra) was drafted by the Jazz in the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft (53rd overall). He appeared in two games during the Salt Lake City Summer League, averaging 13.0 points, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 rebounds, also competing in two games at the Las Vegas Summer League where he posted averages of 10.5 points, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Brandon Clarke Named 2019 NBA Summer League MVP

Brandon Clarke has been named MVP of the 2019 NBA Summer League.

Joining Clarke on the First Team are Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jarrett Allen, Kendrick Nunn and Mitchell Robinson.

Clarke was the 21st overall selection in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies out of Gonzaga. Clarke turns 23 in September.

Zion Williamson: Summer League Shutdown Is 'Precautionary'

Zion Williamson addressed his disappointment in getting shutdown for the rest of Summer League after suffering a bruised knee in his preseason debut for the New Orleans Pelicans.

"It was more precautionary," said Williamson, who scored 11 points in nine minutes against the Knicks.

Williamson's debut was the highest rated Summer League game in league history. 

Williamson, who came into Summer League weighing 284 lbs, did not provide any specific goals in how he would get into game shape. 

"I'll let the trainers help me with that," added Williamson.

Pelicans Rule Out Zion Williamson For Remainder Of Summer League

Zion Williamson will not participate in the remainder of Summer League with the New Orleans Pelicans.

Williamson left Friday's game against the New York Knicks with a bruised left knee.

“Zion will move forward from this incident without issue,” said David Griffin. “However, in an abundance of caution, we have made the determination that he will not appear in game action for the remainder of the NBA Summer League. He will continue to take part in training and conditioning with our performance team.”

Summer League Games To Resume Following Earthquake

The Las Vegas Summer League will resume as scheduled after structural engineers deemed that Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavillion were "safe to open" following an earthquake on Friday night.

Two games - between the Pelicans and Knicks, and Spurs and Magic - were both suspended on Friday night for precautionary measures.

10 Summer League games are scheduled for Saturday.

Zion Williamson's Debut Leads To Highest Rated Summer League Ever

The Summer League game between the New Orleans Pelicans and New York Knicks on ESPN drew a 1.2 metered market rating, representing the highest rated Summer League game ever.

That number is a 33% increase from the previous high set two years ago by the Lakers and Celtics in Lonzo Ball's Summer League debut.

Zion Williamson scored 11 points in the first-half in his debut before sitting out the second half after taking a hit to his left knee

The game was suspended with the Pelicans leading in the fourth quarter following an earthquake.

Adam Silver Wants Venues Inspected For Damage Before Continuing With Summer League Games

Adam Silver wants a structural engineer to examine the Thomas & Mack Arena and Cox Pavilion for damage following an earthquake before re-starting Summer League games, league sources told Rod Boone and Kelly Iko of The Athletic. 

A 6.9 earthquake in Southern California suspended the Pelicans-Knicks game in the fourth quarter. The game between the Spurs and and the Magic at the Cox Pavilion was also cancelled in the third quarter, as was the late-game between the Suns and the Nuggets.

“Safety comes first, second, third,” said Summer League executive director Warren LeGarie.

Zion Williamson scored 11 points in nine first-half minutes in his summer league debut against the New York Knicks.

The game was played in front of a sellout crowd.

Williamson sat out the second half after taking a knee-to-knee hit, though the injury is not expected to be serious.

The game was suspended in the fourth quarter after a 6.9 magnitude earthquake hit Ridgecrest, California, around 200 miles from Las Vegas.

The New Orleans Pelicans are expected to sit Zion Williamson in their second Summer League game, which is on the second leg of a back-to-back, according to multiple sources that spoke with Jake Fischer of Sports Illustrated.

Williamson will make his Summer League debut on Friday as the Pelicans play the RJ Barrett and New York Knicks.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis are expected to be sitting courtside for Williamson's first game.
