Iverson Is Still Frustrated In Detroit

Jan 27, 2009 4:41 PM

The Pistons lost yet again on Sunday night, this time to the Rockets in a close game, and guard Allen Iverson vocalized his frustrations.

"I would be lying if I said I wasn't frustrated," Iverson said.

"I am just going to stay positive, stay focused. I am going to keep believing in my teammates when I am not in the game and keep trusting them when I am in the game."

Iverson: 'I Can Offer More To The Team'

Jan 26, 2009 9:41 AM

Pistons' guard Allen Iverson has heard all the critics that believe he's to blame for the team's struggles but claims he has more to offer in Detroit.

"I just feel like I can offer a little more to the team," said Iverson. "I can help us do more to win basketball games.

"When the opportunity presents itself, I'll be right here to take on the challenge. I'm going to stay positive, stay focused, keep believing in my teammates when I'm not in the game and keep trusting them when I am in the game."

Is Dumars Looking To Deal Iverson?

Jan 25, 2009 5:04 PM

As the Pistons continue to struggle with Allen Iverson, some general managers believe that president Joe Dumars is looking to trade the future Hall of Famer.

"They are playing with no emotion," said a team executive. Iverson "has killed the team's spirit with his style of play."

The same executive believes that Dumars would trade Iverson if he was able to get a similar expiring contract in return.

Pistons Unlikely To Make Major Trade

Jan 24, 2009 11:32 AM

The trade deadline is less than a month away, but the Pistons aren't expected to pull the trigger on a major trade.

"We will be open until the trade deadline," team president Joe Dumars said. "We won't shut it off and say there's no possible way we can make a move. I don't think you can do that."

Detroit might look for help off the bench, but they already agreed on one blockbuster trade this season when they sent Chauncey Billups to Denver for Allen Iverson.

"You can look at your team and feel you have a need for one more piece, but unless you can get that specific piece, it doesn't make sense to just go out and make a deal," Dumars said. "It would have to be a specific piece."

Webber: Iverson Needs To Play With 'Four Stiffs'

Jan 21, 2009 4:59 PM

Chris Webber said on TNT earlier this week that he believes Pistons' guard Allen Iverson needs "four stiffs" to play around him.

Webber said that he believes Iverson should be coming off the bench for Detroit rather than Richard Hamilton, who has been moved into the role of sixth man.

"Allen is the best player I've seen with four stiffs, and that's no disrespect to anyone," Webber said.

Later in the broadcast Webber said, "Allen Iverson needs five robots to play with him."

Hamilton Agrees To Come Off Pistons' Bench

Jan 21, 2009 10:03 AM

Pistons' guard Richard Hamilton has agreed to be the team's sixth man as coach Michael Curry switches to a more defensive-oriented starting lineup.

"A lot of people have made a lot of things about this," Hamilton said. "Regardless, you want to win games. Me and Allen [Iverson] both know that. They told me I was coming off the bench, that it was something MC (Curry) wanted, and I said, 'Fine, cool.'

"The bottom line is you want to win games. If this is the best way we can win a championship, then I am all for it. The thing is, we have two great scorers, me and A.I. We have to figure out how both of us can be our best."

Iverson will start at shooting guard while Amir Johnson will take Hamilton's spot in the starting lineup on most nights.

Rip Likely Headed To Detroit's Bench

Jan 20, 2009 4:41 PM

Pistons' coach Michael Curry hasn't decided to make a lineup change just yet, but it appears as though Richard Hamilton will soon come off the bench in favor of Amir Johnson.

The "demotion" doesn't appear to concern Hamilton, who has reportedly been frustrated at times in Detroit this season.

"We just want to win, bottom line. We want to win games," Hamilton said. "Guys are coming out, trying to figure out a way to do everything possible to help the team win. That's the most important thing right now -- just try to win games."

Iverson: Frustration Is Mounting

Jan 18, 2009 12:49 AM

The Detroit Pistons lost their fifth consecutive game on Saturday night, as the Hornets bounced back from their loss Friday in Cleveland.

"You lose this many games in a row, I mean, is there anything on a higher level than frustration?" Iverson asked following the game.

"Character is going to come into play now," he said. "It should have come in already, but you are going to see what guys are made of now. You are going to see what kind of people we are, what kind of players we are, what kind of professionals we are and what kind of teammates we are to each other.

"This is the time when some teams start pointing fingers and playing the blame game. But this is nobody's fault but all of our's. It's all of our's fault. Everybody is to blame, the coaching staff to the players. Everybody needs to take responsibility. Once we step up and do that as a unit, then we can start to turn this around."

Pistons' forward Rasheed Wallace missed shootaround on Friday, the Detroit News is reporting.

"He called," Coach Michael Curry said of Wallace. "He thought it was 10:45 (the bus left at 9:45 a.m.), but he wasn't feeling well anyway."

"We will see how he feels at the hotel and make our decision after that."
