Russell Westbrook will be held out of the Houston Rockets' preseason opener against the Shanghai Sharks.
Westbrook underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this offseason.
Westbrook has recently been cleared for five-on-five play.
"I feel like I'm in a good place," Westbrook said of his health during Friday's media day. "I'll be ready to go on opening night."
Paul George told Ramona Shelburne of ESPN that he will miss all of training camp and is targeting a 'November-ish' return.
George had surgery on both shoulders over the summer.
In looking ahead at the season, George added that the Clippers could be a "special defensive team" with several players committed to the defensive end.
Kevin Durant opened up about his reasons for signing with the Brooklyn Nets, saying it was obvious the organization was going in the right direction.
"It's not like I had to do any deep analysis of any player here. Just watching games and playing against them and seeing the continuity throughout the last couple of years, it was pretty easy to figure out what kind of team and what kind of organization this place is," said Durant.
Durant went on to compliment Kenny Atkinson's approach to the craft.
"I was doing a lot of YouTube research on Kenny Atkinson and watching interviews seeing how he talked after the game. I really liked his approach to his craft as a coach …. But once I started getting comfortable (with) how he coaches his craft, it started to make me feel at ease even though I never had a conversation with him. I could just see it through You Tube and clips that he was pretty genuine about the game," added Durant.
Kyle Kuzma will sign a sneaker deal with Puma Basketball, league sources told Marc Stein of The New York Times.
Kuzma was previously a Nike athlete.
Kuzma, currently rehabbing a foot injury, has not been cleared to participate in practice.
Kyrie Irving said that Kevin Durant was not ready to play in last season's NBA Final, but that the product was placed before the health of the player.
"We all know K was not ready to play in that environment...he was out 31 days and we put him on a national stage to end up selling a product to came before the person Kevin," said Irving at Nets media day.
There were rumors that Durant could return this season, though Sean Marks recently stated that Durant will sit out the year.
Irving then emphasized that he would make sure Durant would come back on his own terms.
"I'm here to protect that...I'll be over-patient with Kevin cause I don't want anything like that to happen to anyone again, especially on that type of stage...I want him to be 101% healthy," added Irving.
Dylan Windler will be sidelined for the start of the 19-20 preseason with the Cleveland Cavaliers after experiencing discomfort in his lower left leg following a series of recent team workouts.
Imaging at Cleveland Clinic Sports Health and evaluation by the Cavaliers medical staff revealed a left tibial stress reaction. Windler will now undergo a period of treatment and rehabilitation and his return to play will be approximately 4-6 weeks. His status will be updated as appropriate.
The Indiana Pacers don't have a timetable for when Victor Oladipo will be ready to return from his ruptured quad tendon he suffered in his right knee last January.
"I don't anticipate Victor being available for a while, and I don't know what a while is," Nate McMillan said. "There's no timetable."
Oladipo would not go into detail on what he's been able to do on the court so far in his rehab.
"Let's be real, I am human," he said. "It hasn't been easy. There have been tough days. There have been days that have been tougher than others. But for the most part, I've survived every single one of them. When I say I'm coming back better than ever, I'm not just saying that because it sounds good. I truly believe that."
Nene has re-injured an adductor that is chronic and will not be with the Houston Rockets in training camp.
The NBA recently rejected a contract Nene signed with the Rockets that contained several bonuses that they believed were a circumvention of the salary cap.
De'Anthony Melton will miss 4-8 weeks with a stress fracture in his back.
Melton averaged 5 points and 3.2 assists in 50 games for the Suns last season before getting traded to the Grizzlies as part of a Josh Jackson package.
The team also announced that Ja Morant has made a full recovery from a knee procedure and will participate in training camp.
