New Orleans is considering Kendall Marshall for their 10th overall pick.
“Most point guards need to be in the right system,” Hornets Coach Monty Williams said. “You take the ball out of Steve Nash’s hands and make him run the Princeton offense, he won’t average 10 assists a game. I think that’s the case for most point guards, more so for Kendall because he’s not the fastest guy in the world.
“But he’s crafty, and I think at North Carolina, where he had three or four first-round picks around him, allowed him to be in the system that helped his game.”
Marshall worked out for the Hornets last Saturday.
“I think he can play,” Williams said. “He has a nose for the situation; he sees plays before they happen. He’s competitive, and I put him in situations where I wanted him to whine a bit. He didn’t whine at all; he just kept playing.”
Will Barton is set to return to the Bulls’ workout facility for a second pre-draft workout.
A 6-foot-6 shooter, Barton is expected to be available when the Bulls use the 29th pick in Thursday's draft.
John Jenkins, Darius Miller, and Doron Lamb have also piqued the Bulls’ interest, sources said.
The Bucks may use the No. 12 pick to get acquire a shooting guard to complement Brandon Jennings.
"We have needs," Bucks assistant general manager Jeff Weltman said. "We also have Monta Ellis.
"We have multiple needs on our team; we're not good enough. I wish we could say we're just that one spot away from being a championship team. We're not. Size and athleticism at the wing would be a nice piece for us.
"We've got to weigh need vs. talent.”
Weltman said the team wouldn’t hesitate to draft either Jeremy Lamb or Terrence Ross, two of the elite shooting guard prospects who were at the Bucks practice facility Tuesday.
Damian Lillard had an excellent workout with the Blazers earlier this month, according to two sources.
"It's the best workout we've had here since Kevin Durant," said another source.
The Blazers are interested in picking Lillard with the No. 6 selection, but Sacramento could pick him at No. 5.
Bob Myers and Joe Lacob flew to New York for private separate workouts on Monday with Andre Drummond and Harrison Barnes, according to multiple sources.
The Warriors own the seventh overall pick in the draft.
Myers declined comment when reached at his Oakland office late Tuesday morning.
The Sixers own the 15th, 45th and 54th overall picks and appear to be leaning towards taking a big man with their highest selection.
John Henson, Tyler Zeller, Perry Jones, Arnett Moultrie and Andrew Nicholson will participate in a group workout for Philadelphia on Saturday.
The Sixers brought in Marquis Teague for a solo workout on Friday.
Philadelphia has been quiet about their likelihood of selecting a point guard, instead focusing more heavily on big men.
John Jenkins got a second workout with the Nuggets.
“I feel like it went just as well as my last workout ,” Jenkins said. “That’s what I wanted to come in here and do: play hard, play aggressive and play good defense. I feel like I did that today."
“I’ve gotten wiser through this whole process. You go to different teams and you play against different guys and your competitiveness goes up and it brings the best out in you.”
Jenkins led the SEC in scoring each of the last two seasons.
Royce White has canceled all of his remaining workouts and is believed to have a promise.
Chad Ford reports that the promise is believed to be from Boston with the 21st and 22nd overall picks.
RealGM had White going to the Celtics with the 21st pick in their most recent mock released Thursday morning.
