In order to sign Josh Howard to a one-year contract earlier this week, the Wizards had to renounce the rights to free agent James Singleton.

Washington remains interested in retaining Singleton.

Oklahoma City Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced today that the team has waived guard Kyle Weaver.

In two seasons with the Thunder, Weaver appeared in 68 games (19 starts) and recorded averages of 4.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 19.3 minutes per contest.

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that, per his request, the team has released Malik Hairston from his contract.

?We?ve enjoyed having Malik in our organization,? said Spurs General Manager RC Buford. ?He is a hard-worker, a talented basketball player and an outstanding young man. After Malik approached us we were happy to honor his request as it will, after he clears waivers, allow him to pursue an excellent overseas basketball opportunity.?

The Thunder will waive swingman Kyle Weaver this week to keep his contract from becoming guaranteed for the 2010-11 season, according to a source.

The deadline for Oklahoma City to do so is Aug. 1.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Maccabi Tel Aviv has already offered Weaver a deal to play overseas.

The Timberwolves are expected to either trade or buyout the contract of guard Sebastian Telfair.

Minnesota acquired the contracts of Delonte West and Telfair on Monday night in a deal that sent Ramon Sessions, Ryan Hollins and a 2013 second-round pick to Cleveland.

Telfair is owed $2.7 million in the final season of a three-year deal that he originally signed with the Timberwolves two years ago.

The Timberwolves will waive guard Delonte West, who they acquired in a trade with the Cavaliers on Monday night, according to sources.

The Phoenix Suns have waived forward Taylor Griffin, the team announced today.

Griffin appeared in just eight games for the Suns as a rookie in 2009-10, averaging 1.3 points in 4.0 minutes.

Erick Dampier is open to re-signing with the Bobcats, even if the team opts to void the final year of his current contract.

Dampier indicated Friday the Bobcats would get the first chance to re-sign him assuming they forgo the final, non-guaranteed year of his deal.

"I would obviously give Charlotte the first opportunity and see what they say, see if they're interested in me or not," Dampier said. "Then we'll go from there. If they're not interested in me I'm sure there are other teams out there that could possibly be interested."

Dampier's career begin with the Pacers when current Bobcats coach Larry Brown was in Indiana.

The Memphis Grizzlies have waived guard Lester Hudson, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.  

?We wanted to give Lester an opportunity to hook up with another team at the start of free agency,? Wallace said.  ?Unfortunately, with the draft day additions of guards Xavier Henry and Greivis Vasquez, it would have been difficult for Lester to get minutes in our backcourt.  We wish him the best.?
