Anthony Trade To East Would Create Extra ASG Roster Spot For West

Jan 28, 2011 10:42 PM

If Carmelo Anthony is traded before the Feb. 20 All-Star Game in Los Angeles from the Denver Nuggets of the Western Conference to a team in the Eastern Conference, he instead would be placed on the East roster for the game.

The East would be allowed to have 13 players and the West would have a replacement named for Anthony.

An NBA official confirmed the scenarios with FanHouse when information was requested on how any player in the exact situation as Anthony would be handled by the league.

Dirk, Chandler Film Video Lobbying For ASG Bid

Jan 28, 2011 2:25 AM

Dirk Nowtizki and Tyson Chandler filmed a video on Thursday where they lobby for the All-Star Game.

Chandler believes he has played well enough to warrant his first trip the game.

“But it’s not up to me,” he said. “It comes down to the coaches. I hope they look at what I’ve done this year for my team.”

Rick Carlisle is pessimistic about Chandler's chances of being named.

“He’s one of our All-Star guys for sure,” he said. “But looking at the list of guys ... I don’t think it’s an impossibility but it’s going to be very difficult.”

Bynum 'Capable' Of Being An All-Star, Not There Yet

Jan 27, 2011 8:58 PM

Andrew Bynum finished second in All-Star voting at the center position in the Western Conference behind Yao Ming.

Yao will be unable to compete in the game due to injury.

"I definitely want to get it, but this year I started off hurt again," said Bynum, referring to his 24-game absence while recovering from offseason surgery on his right knee. "I missed too many games."

Bynum is amongst the leaders at the center position on a per game basis.

"I'm definitely capable of being there," Bynum said. "But I just have to be a little bit more consistent and stay healthy longer."
