Jerry Reindsorf Frustrated With Gar Forman Over Bulls' Poor Start

Nov 29, 2019 4:51 PM

Jerry Reinsdorf "is livid" about the Chicago Bulls' slow start to the 19-20 season, according to several sources that spoke with Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times. Reinsdorf reportedly is focused on Gar Forman and his unhappiness has been building over time after several questionable decisions.

The opinion of Doug Collins has been carrying weight in the matter.

John Paxson is thought to be untouchable to Reinsdorf, while Boylen is also well-respected with his three-year extension signed off on by Forman, Paxson, Collins, Jerry Reinsdorf and Michael Reinsdorf.

Jabari Parker Wishes He Could Have Stayed With Bucks

Nov 27, 2019 4:21 PM

Jabari Parker was the second overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2014, but he left the franchise during the 2018 offseason. Parker returned to Milwaukee as a member of the Atlanta Hawks after finding a niche in the NBA.

Parker is impressed with what the Bucks have built with Fiserv Forum.

"It's real special, man, how they were able to build this building," Parker told ESPN. "I haven't played here but just seeing like the growth of the city, I really like the way that it's developing.

"It's just so sad that I'm not able to share it with them and that they moved on, but that's fine, that's business. But I do have like a little homesickness from being here. I just miss being here."

Parker has a player option for 20-21 with the Hawks. Parker wouldn't rule out a return to the Bucks in the future.

"Never. I would never rule out a possible return here," Parker told ESPN. "I would never do that. It's just so sad how it ended and I wish I could've stayed."

Parker said his joy for the game is "almost there" again.

"It's growing continually, but in order to get that 100 percent joy and passion it comes with winning," said Parker. "I just want to be a winner."

Celtics' Source Describes 'Night And Day' Difference In Atmosphere From Last Season

Nov 27, 2019 11:45 AM

Several sources have indicated that the departure of Kyrie Irving and arrival of Kemba Walker has helped fill the atmosphere of the team.

“Night and day,” said one team source.

“You can feel it at all times,” said another source.

One source began telling Jay King of The Athletic in March that Irving and Kevin Durant had already decided to sign with the Brooklyn Nets.

“It never helps when someone doesn’t want to be there,” said a Boston source.

Carmelo Anthony Insists 'This Ain't A Damn Farewell Tour', Wants To Play Next Season

Nov 26, 2019 12:56 PM

Carmelo Anthony returned to the NBA on a non-guaranteed one-year, $2.15 million deal with the Portland Trail Blazers for his 17th season.

Anthony told Shams Charania of The Athletic that he wants to play beyond the current season.

“This ain’t a damn farewell tour,” Anthony said. “My love for the game don’t stop. I don’t know where this ‘farewell tour’ thing came from. I’ve never talked about a farewell tour. I know what I can do and I believe in myself. When a farewell tour comes, it comes. That’s not something I think about. I’m not thinking about retiring right now. I had during this past stretch over the summer.

“But ain’t no retiring in my mind. I believe in what I have left.”

During his sabbatical, Anthony talked to his star friends LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, but neither the Los Angeles Lakers or Miami Heat ever came close to signing him. Anthony also never asked.

“As far as friendships, I would never put business along with friendships,” Anthony said. “I would never do that. I would never reach out to a friend and say, ‘I need this. Can you do this for me?’ when it pertains to a situation that may not be in their control. It was frustrating being in my position, but I just decided: control what you can control.

“I got close friends on a lot of teams that I would never reach out to for a favor. It’s just not who I am.”

Kevin Love 'Going To Do Right By Cleveland', Won't Try To Force Trade

Nov 26, 2019 12:42 PM

Kevin Love continues to insist he is happy with the Cleveland Cavaliers and won't force a trade.

"I'm just going to let the chips fall," Love said. "I know that this is a young team. I think I can help them. I'm going to do right by Cleveland, the organization. This is a league where teams want to rebuild, teams want to go young but certain teams are looking for a piece, a guy who's played in the Finals, a guy who has playoff experience. I don't know what's going to happen, but I think it definitely lessens the burden and the anxiety."

The Portland Trail Blazers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat are all teams that could conceivably use Love.

"I've been committed to Cleveland since Day 1," Love said. "I know it's been a little shaky at some points. It's been really great at some points. But now I've found some semblance of balance in my life, not only on the court but away from it."

Love is averaging 17.9 points and 11.8 rebounds this season.

Danny Ainge Believes He Should Be Blamed For Celtics' Issues Last Season

Nov 26, 2019 12:00 PM

In a candid interview with Rachel Nichols of ESPN, Danny Ainge took responsibility for the issues that plagued the 18-19 season, particularly with Kyrie Irving and the issues Brad Stevens had managing their depth.

"Kyrie for his first year and a half was terrific for us, and I was hopeful that it was going to be a good marriage going forward," said Ainge. "But he really wanted to go home, and that's his choice, and I don't know why he gets all the blame. I mean, I'm the one who should be blamed for last year. We put a team together that just didn't have pieces that fit. We had a lot of talent, a lot of expectations. It's certainly not Kyrie's fault."

Nichols asked if Ainge believed it was his fault.

"I do think it was my fault. I think there's some things I wish I did different. In hindsight, we should have cleaned out the roster a little bit to make it easier for Brad. We had a deep roster. We were built for a longer run. We had a lot of guys that had a lot of success without Gordon (Hayward) and Kyrie, and the guys that had success without those two guys felt like it was their time for the spotlight. It just didn't mesh."

Knicks Did Not Offer Richard Jefferson Contract In 2018 or 2019

Nov 26, 2019 2:22 AM

The New York Knicks stated that they did not offer Richard Jefferson a contract in either the summer of 2018 or 2019.

The clarification comes on the heels of Jefferson saying that he knew it was time to retire when the Knicks were the only team to offer him a contract.

“They were the one team that offered me a job, and I decided to retire. I just knew it was time. When the Knicks were looking for me to play for them, I knew my time in the league was over," said Jefferson during the broadcast of the Knicks-Nets game over the weekend.

Jefferson clarified later in the broadcast that he was joking.

Kings Didn't Draft Luka Doncic Partly Because Vlade Divac Didn't Think Highly Of Doncic's Dad

Nov 25, 2019 11:21 AM

Vlade Divac passed up on drafting Luka Doncic in the 2018 draft partly because he didn't think highly of Doncic's father, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

MacMahon relayed the story in a recent episode of Adrian Wojnarowski's podcast discussing the evolution of Doncic.

The discussion turned to how the Kings and Suns both passed up the opportunity to draft Doncic despite having people close to the player at the time. MacMahon said that Divac's closeness with Doncic's dad went against the player.

“My understanding is that [Divac] being so close to Luka and knowing his dad so well factored into their decision. Basically, he didn’t think a whole lot of Luka’s dad, and the whole like father like son … well … no, this is a different dude. You messed that one up, Vlade," said MacMahon.

Grizzlies Not Looking To Buy Out Andre Iguodala

Nov 24, 2019 4:41 PM

The Memphis Grizzlies will not buy out Andre Iguodala, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Grizzlies are instead looking for an asset in return for Iguodala, who they acquired from the Warriors last summer.

“The message that Memphis has delivered to teams like the Lakers, Clippers and Rockets is that you’re going to have to trade for him. We are not buying him out. He will not be on the free agent market," said Wojnarowski.
