Oct 31, 2013 4:32 PM

Spurs forward Tim Duncan underwent a CT scan this morning in San Antonio which confirmed that he has a chest contusion, the team announced on Thursday.

He suffered the injury during the third quarter of last night's Spurs-Grizzlies game. His status is day-to-day and he is listed as doubtful for Friday night's Spurs-Lakers game.

Duncan will travel with the team this afternoon when the Spurs depart for a three-game trip that begins in Los Angeles.

Derrick Rose Vows To Play Through Sore Neck In Home Return

Oct 31, 2013 1:06 PM

Derrick Rose sat out Thursday morning's shootaround with a sore neck, but vowed to play in the Chicago Bulls' home opener against the New York Knicks.

"Oh hell yeah, for sure I know I’m going to play," Rose said. "It’s just that I have to get loose."

Rose revealed he sat out Wednesday's practice at the Berto Center, which just consisted of film, walkthrough and individual shooting.

Tom Thibodeau said everybody was "fine" when asked about the team's health after Wednesday's practice.

"It's definitely frustrating," Rose said of his latest soreness. "But I can’t get mad about it, can’t get sad about it. I know I’m doing all the things to get back on the court as quick as possible and working my butt off."

Heat May Keep Wade Out Of Back-To-Backs Until December

Oct 30, 2013 7:01 PM

The Miami Heat are holding Dwyane Wade out of Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Heat played last night in Miami and may continue to hold Wade out of back-to-backs until December.

"That's really part of the plan," Erik Spoelstra said of Wednesday's decision. "It's not necessarily our rule that he won't play back-to-backs. It's just been a long week in terms of our preparations. His knee is a little bit sore, but nothing dramatic of a major concern. We're just going to be proactive with it."

Spoelstra said the decision to sit Wade was made at the midday walkthrough at the team hotel.

"We'll continue to evaluate not only Dwyane, but the rest of our guys each day," Spoelstra said. "But we do have specific plans for everybody. Every day it might be something different."

Russell Westbrook Could Play For Thunder In Next Two Weeks

Oct 30, 2013 12:15 AM

Russell Westbrook has made significant progress in his recovery from a second surgery on his knee and could return to the Oklahoma City Thunder's lineup within two weeks, according to sources.

The Thunder issued an original timetable of six to eight weeks from Wednesday's opening night for Westbrook, but barring an unforeseen setback he could be back in the lineup by mid-November.

Westbrook has impressed the Thunder with his explosion and return to form.

After rehabilitating a torn meniscus suffered in the Western Conference playoffs in April, Westbrook spent the summer rehabilitating the injury until a loose stitch forced a second surgical procedure in early October.

Ty Lawson is expected to miss the Denver Nuggets' season opener at the Sacramento Kings because of a groin injury.

The Nuggets also anticipate Wilson Chandler (hamstring) and Randy Foye (hip) missing the game.

"I would anticipate Wilson is not going to play," Brian Shaw said. "Ty and Randy are still a question, but my mind-set is that they are going to be out."

Granger Out Three Weeks With Strained Left Calf

Oct 28, 2013 12:03 PM

Danny Granger will miss approximately three weeks as he rehabilitates a strained left calf injury sustained in the preseason.

The length of time is a precautionary measure as the Indiana Pacers want to ensure Granger is physically ready to play in light of missing all but five games last season due to his knee injury.

The rehabilitation time is strictly related to the calf injury.

Noah '100 Percent' Likely To Play In Opener Against Heat

Oct 27, 2013 8:43 PM

Joakim Noah played just 19 minutes and 45 seconds during the preseason for the Chicago Bulls due to a groin injury.

Noah said that he has been pain-free for "four or five" days and there is a "100 percent" chance of him playing the first game of the regular season against the Miami Heat.

"Every time you play against Miami, it's always a statement," Noah said. "We're a hungry group. It's one of 82, but we know that every time you play against Miami it's important."
