Aleksej Pokusevski had hoped to suit up for Serbia at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, but he'll miss the event due to rehab from injury. Pokusevski is continuing to work his way back from a small fracture in his right humerus.

The Oklahoma City Thunder big man had hoped to play for the Serbian senior national team for the first time this summer, but that debut will have to wait. Pokusevski is expected to be fully recovered in time for training camp with the Thunder in late-September.

Serbia will be down several key players for the World Cup. In addition to Pokusevski, Nikola Jokic will not play, due to rest reasons after winning the 2023 NBA Finals. Vasilije Micic will sit out, as he transitions to the NBA for the upcoming season. Longtime Serbian national team members Nikola Kalinic and Vladimir Lucic are both out due to injuries.

Ben Simmons completed rehab and is focusing on skill work and conditioning, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.

The 27-year-old is reportedly 100% healthy and is expected to participate from the first day of training camp.

Sources add that Simmons has not experienced any setbacks this summer.

Simmons is expected to be in the mix to start at point guard next season. 

The New Orleans Pelicans will not allow Jose Alvarado to play for Puerto Rico in the upcoming FIBA World Cup due to an injury.

Alvarado missed the end of the 2022-23 regular season due to a stress reaction in his tibia. An MRI performed last week revealed that the injury had yet to fully heal.

Alvarado appeared in 61 games last season, averaging 9 points and 3 assists. 

Ben Simmons received credit for a year of service during the 2021-22 season, sources told Zach Lowe of ESPN.

Simmons held out from the Sixers at the start of the season before getting traded to the Nets. Simmons then continued to sit for the Nets before undergoing back surgery in April 2022.

Counting the season, Simmons has now served seven years in the league.

There were officials from several teams who argued Simmons should not be credited for the year.

The decision is intended as a standalone ruling for Simmons' situation and is not intended to set a future precedent. 

Jarace Walker has undergone a minor procedure to remove loose bodies in his right elbow. Walker is expected to be fully recovered for the start of camp in September.

The Indiana Pacers selected Walker with the eighth overall pick in the draft.

In four Summer League games, Walker averaged 14.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks in 30.1 minutes.

Scoot Henderson will miss the Portland Trail Blazers' Summer League game on Tuesday due to a right shoulder strain.

Henderson has not been ruled out for the rest of Summer League.

Victor Wembanyama was shut down for the remainder of Summer League on Monday. 

Scoot Henderson will miss Sunday's game against the San Antonio Spurs to rest his shoulder, sources told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.

Henderson suffered the shoulder injury on Friday night against the Rockets. 

Amen Thompson will be out 2-3 weeks after getting diagnosed with a Grade 2 ankle sprain.

Thompson suffered the injury in Summer League against the Blazers.

Thompson will be in a walking boot for a week and is expected to miss the rest of Summer League.

Scoot Henderson is set to undergo an MRI on his right shoulder, sources told Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.

Henderson suffered the injury against the Rockets on Friday night.

Haynes adds there is optimism that the shoulder is not dislocated. 

Amen Thompson is scheduled to get an MRI on his left ankle on Saturday morning, sources told Kelly Iko and Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Thompson suffered the sprained ankle against the Blazers on Friday night.

The Rockets will likely keep Thompson out for the rest of Summer League.
