UCLA's Josh Shipp has declared for the NBA draft on the last day that underclassmen can declare but has not hired an agent, the Associated Press are reporting.

"After speaking with my family and with Coach [Ben] Howland, I think I should test the NBA waters to get some feedback," Shipp said in a statement Sunday. "I feel like it really can't hurt me at this time. I want to go through the process this year, which will serve as a positive experience for me in my future development."

Connecticut center Hasheem Thabeet will return to school for his junior year, according to a report on ESPN.com.

He was projected as a first-round pick by most analysts and was listed as the 25th pick in RealGM.com's most-recent 2008 Mock Draft.

"As a team, we took a step in the right direction this year, but I look forward to us working together to win a Big East Championship and making a run at a national championship," Thabeet said in a statement released Sunday by UConn. "I really enjoy being here, getting a great education and spending time with my friends and teammates."

UCLA's Darren Collison announced Saturday that he will return for his senior season instead of joining teammates who have declared for the NBA draft, as reported by ESPN.com.

"I want to give myself the best possible chance to succeed at the next level," Collison was quoted as saying by the Los Angeles Times. "I have not made this decision impulsively. I have unfinished business at UCLA. I want to complete my education, and when I do enter the draft I don't want to be just another prospect."

UNC's Danny Green declared for the NBA draft Saturday but will not hire an agent, according to an Associated Press report.

Green announced his decision one day after teammate Tyler Hansbrough said he would return for his senior year.

Tar Heels' forward Tyler Hansbrough, the National Player of the Year, will return for his senior season, the school announced Friday.

While Hansbrough will remain in school, sophomores Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington are declaring for the draft but will not hire agents, according to a Yahoo.com report.

Despite advice from Louisville Coach Rick Pitino that he needs more seasoning in the NCAA, for the moment, forward Derrick Caracter will be staying in the NBA draft, the Associated Press is reporting.

According to the report, Pitino hopes NBA scouts and general managers can succeed at getting through to Caracter that his game might not be NBA-ready.

"I think he's been looking in the mirror and conning himself for a long, long time," Pitino said. "Now he's got to go and find out what the real world is like."

Caracter has not hired an agent, giving him the right to withdraw his declaration and return to school, but Pitino is not expecting him back.

"That's not in the cards for him right now," Pitino said. "It's not in his best interest as well as our best interest. Our best interest and his best interest right now is to try to become a second-round draft pick. Too much has happened for him to turn around now."

Tennessee forward Tyler Smith has announced that he will be returning to school for his junior season rather making the jump to the NBA, the Associated Press is reporting.

"I have come to the conclusion that I want to be a Volunteer next year," he said Thursday, just seconds into a news conference on his future.

Memphis juniors Antonio Anderson and Robert Dozier have declared for the NBA draft.

Neither Anderson and Dozier are expected to sign with agents, which means they both would be able to withdraw.

Mario Chalmers, the hero in the Jayhawks' national title victory over Memphis, will test the NBA Draft waters without hiring an agent, according to the Associated Press.

The junior admitted his decision on Wednesday, claiming that he'll only officially declare if he is projected as a first round selection.

Texas All-American D.J. Augustin says he is leaving school after two seasons to enter the June draft, as reported by the Associated Press.
