Aaron Scales Decommits From Missouri

Oct 31, 2011 3:40 PM

Aaron Scales, a 6-foot-9, 250-pound power forward prospect from the American Basketball Institute in Charlotte, N.C., announced he has de-committed from Missouri.

His coach, John Jordan, who made the announcement in an email to several media members, cited the uncertain outcome of the NCAA investigation into allegations of impropriety by Frank Haith while at Miami as the reason for Scales to change his mind.

“Actually, he’s been thinking about it for the last few weeks. It’s just a tough situation,” Jordan said in a phone interview Monday morning. “He really likes Coach Haith. He’d love to play for him, but with these allegations pending, it’s a situation where we just can’t gamble on this kind of situation.”

Willie Cauley Commits To Kentucky

Oct 31, 2011 2:48 PM

Willie Cauley has committed to Kentucky as a member of the class of 2012.

Cauley is a 7-foot, 230 pound center generally considered as a top-40 member of his class.

Cauley plays at Olathe (Kan.) Northwest.

“I would say he’s a very, very high-level run and jump athlete,” Rivals.com Eric Bossi said. “And he’s also very fluid from side-to-side. He can get from one end of the floor to the other better (than most big men). His offense needs some work but I wouldn’t say he’s totally raw.

"There aren't that many players with his body and length that can shoot it like he can," Campbell High coach Steve Wachs said.

Braeden Anderson To Attend Fresno State

Oct 22, 2011 11:47 AM

Braeden Anderson, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Alberta, Canada, who originally planned to play basketball at Kansas University, on Friday announced plans to attend Fresno State.

Anderson was deemed an NCAA partial qualifier at KU in September, but was not approved for aid by the Big 12 Conference, which made him ineligible for participation at KU. The Mountain West Conference, of which Fresno State is a member, accepts partial qualifiers and is allowed to provide aid.

“I did not want to commit to two years at a junior college,” said Anderson, who would have needed a juco degree to qualify for a two-year career at KU. “Fresno is a really good fit for me. I really like the coaches there. I’m a West Coast kid at heart. I have a ton of family in California — a lot of cousins.”

Anderson is disappointed he will be unable to play for Kansas.

“My ultimate goal is the NBA. Before that, my ultimate goal was to make a high-major Div. I school. In my mind, I made it there,” Anderson said of attaining an offer at powerhouse KU. “Kansas is where I wanted to go. I would have picked Kansas over any school in the country. I love all the people there. My heart will always be in Kansas. I’ll always have a really soft spot for Lawrence and the people there.”

Anderson will live with relatives and train in California until reporting to Fresno State second semester.
