Chris Paul Fined $35,000 By NBA For Making Contact With Referee

Chris Paul has been fined $35,000 by the NBA for making contact with a referee in the closing seconds of Game 1.

Paul will not be suspended.

The NBA described the action as "aggressively confronting and recklessly making contact with a game official."

NBA rules dictate that any player or coach guilty of intentional physical contact with an official shall automatically be suspended without pay for one game.

Nets Minority Owner Fined $35K For Tweet Criticizing Refs

Joseph Tsai was fined $35,000 by the NBA for sending a tweet criticizing the officials after the Brooklyn Nets' game 4 loss.

"My partners and I have spoken and the entire Nets ownership group support our GM Sean Marks for protesting the wrong calls and missed calls. NBA rules are rules and we respect that, but our players and fans expect things to be fair," Tsai tweeted.

Tsai's fine follows Sean Marks' fine and suspension for entering the referee's locker room after the game.

"It shows we're all one organization -- we're not separated in different parts. We're all together as one," said Jarrett Allen.

Amir Johnson Fined For Checking Cell Phone During Game 1 Loss

Amir Johnson was fined an undisclosed amount by the Philadelphia 76ers for checking his cell phone during their game 1 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

"I take full responsibility and will accept the consequences of my actions. I also apologize to my teammates, the 76ers organization and the fans for the distraction this has caused," said Johnson in a release.

Brett Brown said Johnson's actions were "completely unacceptable."

Joel Embiid defended Johnson, saying his teammate was checking up on his sick daughter.

The incident took place as Davis was exiting the court area upon conclusion of the Pelicans’ 115-109 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on April 3 at Smoothie King Center.

The NBA has fined three members of the Golden State Warriors for their criticism of officials.

Draymond Green has been fined $35,000 for making statements on social media which impugned the integrity of NBA officiating, Stephen Curry has been fined $25,000 for his actions and public statements impugning the integrity of NBA officiating, and Kevin Durant has been fined $15,000 for public criticism of the officiating.

The NBA’s investigation into this matter included the review of player conduct that took place through Sunday, March 31, and the ultimate findings were determined after verifying all available information.

The actions of all three players occurred at various points during and following the Warriors’ 131-130 overtime loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 29 at Target Center.
