Anthony Davis Cleared To Increase On-Court Work, Remains 'Still A Ways Away' From Return

Mar 27, 2021 1:08 AM

Anthony Davis was cleared to begin advancing his on-court work by Los Angeles Lakers team doctors on Friday, including increasing his "volume and intensity in shooting, dribbling and position specific drills."

Davis has been out for nearly six weeks due to calf strain and tendinosis in his right leg.

The Lakers are 7-11 without Davis.

Frank Vogel added that Davis is still not close to returning to the lineup.

"We're in the middle of a ramp up. But he's still a ways away, so nothing concrete from a days [until return] standpoint right now," said Vogel.

Hornets Optmistic LaMelo Ball Can Return From Broken Wrist This Season

Mar 26, 2021 1:56 PM

The Charlotte Hornets have grown somewhat optimistic LaMelo Ball could return from his broken wrist before the end of the season.

The prognosis post-surgery was that Ball would be re-evaluated in four weeks, which is approximately April 20.

“We don’t know if LaMelo is out for the season or not,” Mitch Kupchak said in a conference call with Charlotte media Friday morning. “There is a possibility (of Ball playing again), just based on other players who have had this injury, that maybe he does come back for some portion of the year.”

Kupchak emphasized the team would do nothing to jeopardize Ball’s future for short-term gain.

“You do have to think it through” when Ball would be healed enough to safely play, Kupchak said. “The one thing we know we’re not going to do in any event is put his health in jeopardy.

“If we get to the end of the (regular season), and we’re in a playoff hunt, and he’s not quite ready — (where) we feel we could get him back on the court and push it — we won’t do that.”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander To Miss Significant Time With Plantar Fasciitis

Mar 24, 2021 10:20 PM

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will miss a significant amount of time due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot.

“Obviously when we’ve got a guy out for maintenance or for rest, it’s easy to be in the moment and wonder why we’re doing that, but I think this makes it very tangible,” Mark Daigneault said Wednesday. “We were trying to avoid this, and obviously we didn’t on this particular case, but this is why we’re being so cautious. If you just look at the information objectively, there’s kind of red flags all over the place.”

Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 23.7 points, 5.9 assists and 4.7 rebounds.
