Luke Walton To Appear On CBS Soap

Los Angeles Lakers forward Luke Walton is taking another page out of his dad's playbook.

Luke recently taped his acting debut on the CBS soap opera "The Young and the Restless," in which he plays a game of one-on-one basketball with actor Kristoff St. John. The episode will air Aug. 30.

The Heat have won three out of the four games against the Lakers since Shaquille O'Neal was traded to Miami.

Mihm To Undergo Surgery On Right Ankle

Chris Mihm of the Lakers will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle to remove scar tissue, it was announced Friday.

Mihm will wear a protective boot for two to three weeks and will be able to play in four to six weeks. He is expected to fully recover by the start of training camp.

Cleamons Rejoins Lakers' Jackson Coaching Staff

Jim Cleamons has rejoined the Lakers as an assistant coach after working the last two seasons on the Hornets' staff.

An assistant under Phil Jackson from 1999-2004 in Los Angeles, Cleamons began his coaching career at Chicago in 1989 when Jackson was the Bulls' coach.

Cleamons left the Bulls in May of 1996 and was the Dallas Mavericks' head coach for a year and a half, leaving with a 28-72 record.

"I am very pleased that Jim is returning to the Lakers coaching staff," Jackson said Tuesday in a statement.

Cook Undergoes Thumb Surgery After Injuring It On Monday

Brian Cook hurt his thumb Monday while playing basketball at a gym in Los Angeles and underwent surgery that evening, the team said on Tuesday.

Cook is expected to be ready for training camp.

Kobe Won't Play For USA After Knee Surgery

Kobe Bryant reportedly had surgery and won't play for Team USA this summer.

Bryant had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Friday and will need eight to 12 weeks to recover, The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported Saturday.

While Bryant will not participate in the team's training camp next week, he will get the chance to compete for the Olympic team, a USA Basketball spokesperson told the paper.

The sugery was a "minor treatment" of cartilage and to remove scar tissue.

The Los Angeles Lakers signed free-agent forward Vladimir Radmanovic on Wednesday, completing his crosstown journey from the rival Clippers.

"Signing a player who can stretch the court was a top priority for our team going into this offseason and with Vladimir, we feel we've accomplished that goal and added an important new dimension to our team," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said.

Prosecutors Reject Sexual Assault Claim Against Kwame Brown

Prosecutors rejected a sexual assault claim against Lakers center Kwame Brown on Tuesday because of a lack of evidence.

The allegation was made during the Lakers' first-round
playoff series with Phoenix and had been under investigation since. Brown had denied any wrongdoing and was never arrested.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office said it decided not to prosecute Brown after "a medical exam of the victim was reviewed and revealed no signs of forcible sexual assault." There was also no corroborating forensic evidence, it said.
