Bradley Beal Views Trade Rumors 'As A Sign Of Respect'

May 29, 2020 12:44 PM

Bradley Beal has emerged in trade rumors even though the Washington Wizards have maintained the position publicly and privately that he's not available. Beal has also reiterated he wants to remain with the Wizards.

The New York Daily News reported last week that the Brooklyn Nets have had "internal discussions" on trading for Beal.

"It's not the first time I've heard this kind of talk," Beal told ESPN. "It's interesting. To me, I look at it as a sign of respect, that I've been doing good things and guys want to play with me.

"That's an unbelievable feeling. When you hear that Kyrie [Irving] and KD [Kevin Durant] want you, s---, that's amazing. At the same time, you don't know how much there is to it, or how easy it would be to do. And I've put down roots in D.C. I've dedicated myself to this town, this community. I love it here, and it would feel great to know I could grind out winning here instead of jumping to another team.

"But I'd be naive to say that I don't think about it when these stories come up."

Beal wants to reunite with John Wall and see how the Wizards can compete.

"My biggest thing right now is that I want to play with John [Wall] again,'' Beal said. "I want to see him get back to that level where I know he can be, especially since my game has grown so much [while he's been out]. What can we accomplish together? I'm so happy he's healthy, working his tail off."

Mark Cuban Says He Was Surprised By Kristaps Porzingis Trade Offer

May 22, 2020 1:45 AM

Mark Cuban said he was surprised by the New York Knicks' offer to trade Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks.

“Very. It happens in the NBA. It’s like the James Harden trade. Harden gets traded from OKC to the Rockets and I’m like, damn, why didn’t we even get that offered to us? We weren’t in the mix. Nobody was. It was one phone call and the Rockets said yes. [The Porzingis trade] was our one phone call,” said Cuban on WFAN's Moose & Maggie show.

The Mavs received Tim Hardaway Jr., Trey Burke and Courtney Lee along with Porzingis in the deal.

Cuban added that he was happy with Porzingis' performance with the Mavs thus far.

"He's an otherworldly talent. He works hard, he's committed to the team. I think it's like a lot of jobs for anybody, not just in sports. You go into that first job after you get out of school or you go into your first job, wherever your circumstances are, and you adapt in one way and you see things and then you get to a different set of circumstances and you just have a different perspective. I think KP just needed a change of scenery and he's been phenomenal."

Warriors Have Been Preparing For Years To Pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo

May 7, 2020 4:57 PM

The Golden State Warriors have been preparing for years to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to a source. The Warriors similarly planned for multiple years to pursue Kevin Durant as a free agent in 2016.

Antetokounmpo can sign a supermax extension with the Bucks in 2020, or opt for free agency in 2021.

League sources also believe Antetokounmpo would want to leave the Bucks if he loses confidence in the franchise's capacity to win championships. The Bucks had the NBA's best record when the season was suspended in March.

The Warriors' best chance of acquiring Antetokounmpo would likely come through a trade.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne said on “The Jump” in September that Golden State has “always been the big threat” to the Bucks in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.

Dennis Lindsey: Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell 'Ready To Put This Behind Them'

May 5, 2020 8:28 PM

The future of Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell as functioning teammates with the Utah Jazz has been a question of concern since they both tested positive for COVID-19 in March.

"They're ready to put this behind them, move forward, act professionally," Dennis Lindsey said on a Zoom call Tuesday with media. "Look, the COVID-19 night of March [11] was really unprecedented. It brought a microscope to our team, and we get it. With that said, we're very pleased with the collective makeup of our group, Donovan and Rudy in particular.

"We look forward to moving forward. They've said their piece to each other. They've both visited at the ownership level, at management level, at the coaches level, at the players level with each other."

Gobert signed a four-year, $102 million extension with the Jazz in 2016. Gobert will be eligible to sign a supermax extension this offseason.

Mitchell will also be eligible to sign an extension with the Jazz this offseason and he is expected to do so.
