Jaylen Nowell is one of the better free agents still on the market. The Dallas Mavericks were rumored to have interest in signing Nowell, but those rumors seem unfounded, according to Marc Stein.

I know there were some recent reports that Jaylen Nowell from Minnesota is a potential target. I was actually told the Mavericks are not really in that race at this point," Stein said. "So, to this point, I would scratch Nowell as a target for the Mavericks, at least that was that’s what I was told yesterday."

Nowell averaged a career-high 10.8 points per game on 45% shooting for the Timberwolves last season.

The Dallas Mavericks are focused on upgrading the center position, according to Marc Stein of Substack.

While the Mavs recently discussed a potential trade for Bojan Bogdanovic, their priority remains looking for a center.

It was rumored last week that the team remains interested in trading for Clint Capela. They also have not ruled out a sign-and-trade involving Christian Wood.  

The Chicago Bulls emerged as a potential suitor for Christian Wood, sources tell Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times.

The Bulls were recently granted a $10.2 million Disabled Player Exception for Lonzo Ball, which could allow them to use part of it to sign Wood.

The Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers also have interest in Wood. The Dallas Mavericks don't have interest in re-signing Wood after one season with the team.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper inked his rookie scale contract with the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. He became the final first-round pick from the 2023 NBA Draft class to sign his rookie deal.

In total, 51 out of 58 picks (the Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia 76ers each forfeited a second-round pick due to tampering) have signed contracts from the 2023 draft class. A few of the unsigned players are expected to sign standard or two-way contracts in the coming days. The remainder will likely be stashed overseas or in the G League for this upcoming season.

The Dallas Mavericks have not ruled out a sign-and-trade deal involving Christian Wood, sources told Marc Stein of Substack.

Wood is currently an unrestricted free agent.

The Mavs are currently hard-capped and $9 million away from hitting the first luxury-tax apron. 

The Dallas Mavericks remain interested in trading for Clint Capela. With the Atlanta Hawks one of the teams most interested in trading for Pascal Siakam, the Mavericks could participate in a potential trade involving the Toronto Raptors to take on Capela.

Capela has two seasons remaining on his contract at nearly $43 million.

With the Raptors re-signing Jakob Poeltl, they are not likely to have interest in taking on Capela.

The Mavericks and Hawks discussed a Capela trade before the draft, but the addition of Josh Green was a sticking point.

The Dallas Mavericks have signed guard Mike Miles Jr. to a two-way contract. Miles went undrafted out of TCU at the 2023 NBA Draft.

In four Las Vegas Summer League games, Miles has averaged 12.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 18 minutes per game.

Dante Exum finalized a two-year, $6.15 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks, sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

The second year of the deal is not guaranteed.

Exum spent the last two season playing in Europe. He played for Barcelona in 2021-22 and then for Partizan last season. With Partizan, Exum averaged 12.2 points on 52/39/85 shooting splits.

The Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks discussed a potential trade for Bojan Bogdanovic last week, sources told Tim Cato of The Athletic.

The trade centered around a framework of Bogdanovic and Killian Hayes going to the Mavs, with the Mavs sending back Tim Hardaway Jr. and JaVale McGee.

The trade discussions were an attempt by the Mavs to expand the three-team deal with the Celtics and Spurs involving Grant Williams.

Tim MacMahon of ESPN added earlier this week that the Mavs could revisit a Bogdanovic deal in the future. 

The Dallas Mavericks have been previously linked with a trade with the Detroit Pistons for Bojan Bogdanovic, who is a player they reportedly remain interested in acquiring.

"I have heard some rumbling about revisiting the Bojan Bogdanovic talks," said Tim MacMahon Which is interesting. He would certainly add some offensive firepower.

"I don't know if they've got the assets to pull that off."

Bogdanovic is signed through 24-25 after signing a two-year, $39.1 million extension with the Pistons at the start of last season.

MacMahon believes it is more likely that the Mavericks address the center position.

The Mavericks only have the 2027 first round pick to trade and also are hard-capped after trading for Grant Williams in a sign-and-trade. Dallas also tried to acquire Matisse Thybulle, but the Portland Trail Blazers matched their offer sheet.
