Jared Dudley On Bubble Location: You Will Be Allowed To Leave

May 21, 2020 1:32 AM

Jared Dudley said that players will be allowed to leave the "bubble location" should the season resume.

"You will be allowed to leave. Now just because you leave, if we're going to give you that leeway, if you come back with corona, you can't play," said Dudley, citing conversations between Adam Silver and Michele Roberts.

Dudley added that there will be rigorous testing within the bubble, which Silver described as a "campus."

Disney World in Orlando has emerged as a clear frontrunner for the league's return-to-play site.

Dudley said that determining which players are allowed to leave will be part of a team's responsibilities.

"Bron, AD and all the top guys we have, we'll be wrapping them in a bubble and not letting them go anywhere. You'll have that be a team rule. Now, it won't be a league, an NBA rule, but you'd want to say, 'Listen, guys, we've come too far. We're going to put our family on hold.'"

LeBron James Considered Playing For Dallas Cowboys During 2011 NBA Lockout

May 20, 2020 12:48 PM

LeBron James considered playing in the NFL during the 2011 NBA lockout.

"I had no idea how long the lockout was going to be, and myself and my trainer ... we really started to actually train to be a football player," James said. "We started to clock our time in the 40, we started to add a little bit more to our bench presses and things of that nature."

James was a wide receiver in high school and was a first-team, all-state player. James received recruiting interest from Notre Dame and Ohio State before focusing on basketball.

Jerry Jones went as far as to send James a contract that he has framed.

James decided not to play football and went on to win his first NBA title that season.

LeBron James Says His 'Best Assets Work Perfectly' With Michael Jordan

May 19, 2020 1:22 AM

LeBron James stated that his ability to pass and read the game would have fit perfectly playing alongside Michael Jordan.

"Me personally, the way I play the game -- team first -- I feel like my best assets work perfectly with Mike. Mike is an assassin. When it comes to playing the game of basketball, scoring the way he scored the ball, [then] my ability to pass, my ability to read the game plays and plays and plays in advance," said James on his Uninterrupted channel.

James said he used to play pickup games with Jordan during Jordan's summer camps at UC-Santa Barbara.

James then went on to compare his game to Scottie Pippen.

"I saw the things [Scottie Pippen] was able to do with Mike. I just think it would've been a whole 'nother level. Pip was one of my favorite players ... It would've been a whole 'nother level with me being a point forward, with me being that point forward alongside of him during those Chicago runs," added James.

Pau Gasol: Playing One More Year With Lakers Would Be 'Great'

May 9, 2020 12:51 PM

Pau Gasol addressed the possibility of playing one more season with the Los Angeles Lakers, saying it's been "on my mind."

Gasol signed with the Blazers last season, but was waived after not playing a game as he recovered from foot surgery.

“It’s something that has been on my mind. Kind of like the potential of maybe finishing or playing my last year with the Lakers would be great. It’s appealing if you will, but the opportunity never really kind of presented itself in a serious official manner," Gasol told ClutchPoints.

Gasol added that he continues to have a strong relationship with Jeanie Buss.

“I have a great relationship and love for Jeanie and the Lakers organization and the city of Los Angeles, which is always going to remain extremely meaningful to me no matter what, but we’ll see.”

Lakers Have Per-Game Contract With RSN Instead Of Typical 70-Game Minimum

May 8, 2020 3:58 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers are one of a handful of teams in the NBA who have a per-game contract with their regional sports network Spectrum SportsNet.

For most teams in the NBA, the league retains 100 percent of the revenue from their RSN partners once they hit 70 games.

When the NBA first suspended its season, some in the media speculated that the league would be motivated to fulfill the minimum requirements for their RSN contracts.

Blazers, Cavs, Nuggets Will Re-Open Facilities On May 8th; Lakers, Mavs To Wait For Further Clearance

May 7, 2020 1:33 AM

The NBA has informed teams that they can re-open their practice facilities on May 8th if their city has loosened restrictions on social distancing.

The Cavs, Nuggets, and Blazers are among teams who will re-open their facilities.

J.B. Bickerstaff said that Cavs coaches will wear masks and gloves, with players and coaches required to stand 12 feet apart.

The Mavs and Lakers, meanwhile, will hold off on re-opening their facilities.

Los Angeles currently has a stay-at-home policy until May 15th. Frank Vogel did not have a firm date on when the Lakers would return, but said he was not concerned by certain teams returning early from a competitive standpoint.

"There's a competitive balance element to this that I personally am not really all that concerned about. I think we're still a long way away from returning to play," said Vogel.

Mark Cuban added that he was not comfortable with the Mavs returning without widespread testing, and that he has no immediate plans to re-open facilities.

Newly-created Forum Entertainment LLC will operate The Forum as a premier, live event venue with the existing leadership team of Geni Lincoln and Mike Fallon remaining in place, reporting to Gillian Zucker, Clippers President of Business Operations.

“We are excited to welcome The Forum to our family. The talented team at The Forum has created a world-class live entertainment venue, and we are committed to building upon that reputation," said Zucker. “Having The Forum just a short distance from the L.A. Clippers’ new arena will give us the opportunity to provide the City of Inglewood with a number of benefits, including a collaborative approach to managing traffic and community activities.”

It is expected that all of the venue’s California-based staff will remain as employees of Forum Entertainment LLC, and assist in making the transition seamless for artists, partners and fans.

The Clippers’ plans for a new, privately financed, fan-focused NBA arena in Inglewood near The Forum continue to move forward, with public hearings slated to begin this summer.

Jerry West: Lakers-Clippers Conference Finals Would Draw 'Record Numbers On TNT'

May 4, 2020 1:35 AM

Jerry West spoke of his desire to see a potential Western Conference Finals matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, adding that it would draw record viewership.

West is currently a consultant for the Clippers.

“We were ascending, and now, when are we going to get back? When are we going to get back? And then the Lakers across town — this would have been an incredible thing for basketball. If someway, somehow, these two teams could have played in a Western Conference Final.

"I think you would have seen record numbers on TNT, I think the viewership would have been obviously biased to the Lakers — which is great! It’s just horrible to sit here and not have something to root for, or me anticipating to see Milwaukee in the East or the other good teams over there," West told Ernie Johnson on NBA TV.

The Clippers won two out of three regular season games against the Lakers.
