Kendrick Nunn's Return Delayed For Lakers

Jan 18, 2022 8:54 AM

The Los Angeles Lakers were hoping to see offseason signee Kendrick Nunn take the court this month, but that debut will have to wait a while longer. Lakers coach Frank Vogel said Nunn's bone bruise in his knee did not respond well to ramped up on-court work. As such, the team has backed off on Nunn's rehab.

The Lakers used most of their Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception to sign Nunn to a two-year, $10.3 million contract. Nunn holds a player option for the 22-23 season.

With Nunn unable to play since the preseason, the Lakers have cobbled together their backcourt minutes around Russell Westbrook. Avery Bradley has been the starter next to Westbrook, while Malik Monk, Talen Horton-Tucker and Austin Reaves have all played a rotation role.

Kevin Durant Has Sprained Left MCL, Nets Hopeful For Return In 4-6 Weeks

Jan 16, 2022 11:19 AM

Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant has been diagnosed with a sprained left MCL. The Nets gave no timetable for Durant's return, but sources say they are hopeful their star will be back in four-to-six weeks.

Durant was injured when teammate Bruce Brown fell into his leg while defending against Herb Jones of the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night. Durant left the game, which the Nets were able to complete with a victory.

While leaving the arena, Durant said he believed the injury wasn't as serious as a similar one in 2017. Then teammate Zaza Pachulia fell into Durant's leg. Durant missed over a month of action while recovering from that injury.

Brooklyn is fortunate to play 11 of their next 14 games on the road. That means the Nets will have Kyrie Irving available to play for most of that stretch. Irving is currently prohibited from playing home games in Brooklyn.
