Executives Expect Pascal Siakam To Be Traded; Hawks, Kings, Pacers Interested

Dec 30, 2023 4:27 PM

The Toronto Raptors swung a big trade on Saturday by sending OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn to the New York Knicks for RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and the Detroit Pistons 2024 second-round pick. But many executives around the NBA think the Raptors aren't done making moves.

Toronto nearly traded Pascal Siakam to the Atlanta Hawks this summer. Since then, Siakam and the Raptors haven't been able to reach an agreement on a contract extension. Both sides had reportedly set an informal deadline of December 30 to agree to an extension.

The Hawks are still expected to have interested in Siakam. The Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings have also been rumored destinations for the veteran forward. Siakam has one season remaining on his contract at $37.9 million.

Pacers Interested In OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam

Dec 29, 2023 9:02 AM

The Indiana Pacers have registered interest in trading for Toronto Raptors forwards OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam. The Raptors are deciding what to do with each player, as they can both hit unrestricted free agency this summer.

The Pacers have been rumored to be looking for upgrades. After their run to the In-Season Tournament final, Indiana is hoping for a playoff appearance. The Pacers haven't been in the playoffs since 2020.

As for Toronto, they've given no indications on how they are leaning with trading Anunoby, Siakam or Gary Trent Jr., who is also a pending free agent. However, the Raptors have indicated that they have no intention of a full-scale teardown or rebuild.

Tyrese Haliburton Believes Warriors Would Have Picked Him If They Were Outside Top-3 In 2020

Dec 22, 2023 11:38 AM

The Golden State Warriors owned the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft and used it on James Wiseman despite having an opportunity to draft the likes of future All-Stars Tyrese Haliburton and LaMelo Ball.

During his workout with the Warriors, Haliburton allowed himself to imagine the possibility of joining Stephen Curry.

“Yeah, I did,” Haliburton told Tim Kawakami in a phone interview this week. “I was disappointed that they (had) the No. 2 pick because I felt like if they were anywhere out of the top three, I felt like I was going to be the pick.”

At the time, it would have been difficult for the Warriors to justify such a high selection on Haliburton.

Haliburton fell to the Sacramento Kings at No. 12 and then traded him to the Indiana Pacers in 2022.

“I hold no ill will towards them, but yeah, it definitely would’ve been a good fit,” Haliburton said of the Warriors. “But hey, they won a championship the next year, so I’m sure they’re not regretting it too much.”

Bucks' Win Over Pacers Ends In 'Incident' Over Game Ball

Dec 14, 2023 1:57 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks' 140-126 win over the Indiana Pacers ended in what Rick Carlisle described as a "fracas" over the game ball.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, who finished with a franchise-record 64 points, attempted to retrieve the game ball outside of the Pacers' locker room.

Carlisle stated that the Pacers took the game ball to commemorate Oscar Tshiebwe scoring his first official points in the NBA.

Carlisle added that several Bucks players came into the Pacers' tunnel before a scuffle ensued. Pacers GM Chad Buchanan was elbowed in the ribs during the incident, according to Carlisle.

"Unfortunate situation. We don't need the official game ball. There's two game balls there, we could've taken the other one. But it didn't need to escalate to that. Really just unfortunate," said Carlisle.

Antetokounmpo said that he was looking to give the game ball to Damian Lillard, who made his 2,451st career 3-pointer to pass Kyle Korver for fifth all-time in NBA history.

"I understand, when you score your first point in the NBA you want to have the ball or whatever the case may be. But at the end of the day you're talking about the guy that just skipped Kyle Korver in the all-time list. In my opinion, we should all stop what we're doing and appreciate greatness," said Antetokounmpo.

Hawks, Kings, Pacers Expected To Pursue Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby

Dec 11, 2023 11:41 AM

The Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers are expected to pursue trades for Pascal Siakam or OG Anunoby, if the Toronto Raptors make either player available. The Raptors have told teams that Scottie Barnes is reportedly untouchable in trade talks.

The Hawks held intense discussions on a Siakam trade over the offseason. The Pacers and Kings have checked in with the Raptors on both Siakam and Anunoby over the last year.

Siakam is in the final season of his four-year contract with Toronto at $37.9 million for this year. Anunoby has a $19.9 million player option for next season that he's widely expected to opt out of in favor of unrestricted free agency.

Pacers On Market For Big Wing

Dec 9, 2023 10:57 AM

Ahead of the Indiana Pacers semifinal game in the In-Season Tournament, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the team is thinking bigger than just the inaugural cup win. The Pacers are reportedly looking to add a "big, athletic, two-way wing" on the trade market.

According to Wojnarowski, Indiana is willing to give up draft picks and young talent to get such a player, because they believe they can keep that player long-term. Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby were again mentioned as potential targets for the Pacers, as they have been for nearly a year now.

Following the Pacers success in the In-Season Tournament, Tyrese Haliburton made it clear that he was recruiting other stars to join him in Indiana. Haliburton believes that the Pacers can build a contender with the right talent on the team.
