Most Olympics Roster Spots Already Targeted For Team USA

Feb 29, 2024 8:16 AM

Team USA has ramped up the selection process for this summer's Olympics in Paris. There are 11 players that the United States are counting on playing or are in strong consideration for a roster spot. The initial 11 are:

  • Bam Adebayo - Miami Heat
  • Devin Booker - Phoenix Suns
  • Stephen Curry - Golden State Warriors
  • Anthony Davis - Los Angeles Lakers
  • Kevin Durant - Phoenix Suns
  • Anthony Edwards - Minnesota Timberwolves
  • Joel Embiid - Philadelphia 76ers
  • Tyrese Haliburton - Indiana Pacers
  • Jrue Holiday - Boston Celtics
  • LeBron James - Los Angeles Lakers
  • Jayson Tatum - Boston Celtics

None of these players are considered absolute locks as of yet. But all 11 are under strong consideration and have mentioned interest in representing Team USA this summer, provided they are healthy enough to play.

Of that group, Booker, Curry, Durant, Embiid, Holiday, James and Tatum are considered to be the United States core group. Edwards and Haliburton are being considered after strong play at last summer's FIBA World Cup. Adebayo and Davis are garnering interest for additional frontcourt depth around Embiid.

Mavs, Pacers Interested In Andrew Wiggins

Feb 6, 2024 1:57 AM

The Dallas Mavericks and Indiana Pacers are interested in trading for Andrew Wiggins, according to Shams Charania on Run It Back.

"The Mavericks and Pacers are two teams, I'm told, that are expressing interest in [Andrew] Wiggins to keep on eye on. But I don't think [the Warriors] are going to move guys just to move guys.

"I think the Warriors need true reasons if they going to trade whether it's a Wiggins, a Klay Thompson, a Chris Paul," said Charania.

Charania added that the Warriors are in a "wait and see" mode but will not make any trades unless they move the needle.

There is no mandate from Joe Lacob to shed salaries.

Suns Discussed OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam With Raptors Before Trading For Kevin Durant

Feb 2, 2024 3:33 PM

During the 22-23 season, the Phoenix Suns had trade conversations with the Toronto Raptors on a deal for either OG Anunoby or Pascal Siakam. Those conversations were not considered serious and ended when they acquired Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets.

"An interesting little Phoenix tidbit that's not relevant anymore, that's not even close to relevant anymore, but it's just interesting: they were, I learned this week, they were in talks with the Raptors on either, not both, but either Siakam or Anunoby before the Durant thing became viable for them," said Zach Lowe on his podcast this week. "And they pivoted everything to the Durant thing. Which you pivot to Kevin Durant.

"Let me be clear: I don't think the talks were serious. I don't think they were going to end up with either of those guys, but it shows the optionality that they had before they went this route.

"Clearly, Toronto didn't trade those guys..."

It was reported last February that the Suns had interest in trading for Anunoby as well as Fred VanVleet. Phoenix also had interest in Kyrie Irving before the Durant trade.

The Raptors waited until the 23-24 season to trade both Anunoby and Siakam with the former going to the New York Knicks and the latter being moved to the Indiana Pacers.
