Pacers, Spurs, Raptors, Jazz Interested in Jalen McDaniels

Jan 30, 2023 9:18 AM

The Charlotte Hornets have made it known they are interested in talking trades for most players on their roster. One young player garnering significant interest is Jalen McDaniels.

The Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Utah Jazz are all reportedly monitoring McDaniels and his potential availability. The Hornets value McDaniels, who they drafted and developed as a second-round pick. The Pacers, Spurs and Jazz could opt to pursue McDaniels in free agency vs trading for him now.

Charlotte has also been active in trade discussions involving Mason Plumlee and Kelly Oubre Jr. Both players are on expiring contracts. Plumlee has had a productive season as the Hornets starting center. Oubre is currently out with a left hand injury, but he should return shortly after the All-Star break.

Myles Turner, Pacers Agree To Two-Year, $60M Renegotiation-And-Extension

Jan 28, 2023 5:16 PM

Myles Turner and the Indiana Pacers have reached agreement on a rare renegotiation-and-extension. Turner will up his currently salary by over $17 million, while adding two new years and nearly $41 million to his deal.

Because Turner is extension-eligible and the Pacers have cap space, they were able to push Turner's salary from $18 million to $35 million for this season. From there, Indiana added two years to the deal through the 2024-25 season.

This extension should take Turner off the trade market ahead of next month's trade deadline. In addition, the renegotiation will bring Indiana over the salary floor for this season. The Pacers will still have roughly $10 million in cap space to work with before the February 9 trade deadline.

Wizards, Jazz, Nets, Pacers Interested In Trading For John Collins

Jan 14, 2023 1:10 PM

The trade market for Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins continues to swirl. The Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, Brooklyn Nets and Indiana Pacers all have registered vary degrees of interest in trading for Collins.

Recently, the Hawks gave Collins representatives to seek a deal on their own. Atlanta is currently in a front office transition, as Travis Schlenk stepped aside from leading the basketball operations. Landry Fields was promoted to general manager, and Kyle Korver was elevated to assistant GM.

Collins' production has dipped this season, as he's often the Hawks third to fifth option on many nights. The sixth-year big man is taking just 10.3 field goal attempts per game, which is his lowest figure since his rookie season. Without consistent touches, Collins' field goal percentage has fallen under 50% (49.6%) for the first time in his career, including a career-low 23.6% on three-pointers.

Indiana Open To Trading Chris Duarte

Jan 13, 2023 8:03 AM

The Indiana Pacers are reportedly open to the idea of trading second-year wing Chris Duarte. Rival teams have indicated that Indiana has been willing to discuss Duarte in talks leading up to next month's trade deadline.

After a solid, but injury-plagued, rookie season, Duarte has been unable to find the same traction this season. He's been in and out of the lineup with injuries and has seen his role reduced in the Pacers wing-heavy rotation.

The lack of minutes, combined with the injuries, has resulted in a big drop in production for Duarte. Still, the 25-year-old can score and shoot, along with showing signs of being a solid defender, rebounder, ballhandler and passer. Duarte has two more seasons left on his rookie scale deal after this season, making him a logical target for a team looking for wing depth.

Pacers Connected To John Collins

Jan 13, 2023 7:51 AM

The Indiana Pacers have nearly $28 million in remaining cap space a month out from the NBA trade deadline. That makes the Pacers a popular trade partner for almost every team in the league.

However, Indiana is also making a playoff push. That has the Pacers looking at upgrading their roster, ideally by adding a young forward. And that desire has Indiana linked to John Collins of the Atlanta Hawks.

The Hawks have struggled this season, and Collins has been in trade rumors since last summer. Atlanta has been rumored to be interested in moving Collins and the $102 million he's owed from this season through the 2025-26 season.

Given Indiana could absorb the entirety of Collins' $23.5 million salary this season with ease, it makes them a natural trade partner for Atlanta. The question comes with what the Pacers could send the Hawks, beyond the ability to rebalance their cap sheet.

Myles Turner Turns Down Contract Extension Offers From Pacers

Myles Turner is reportedly turning down contract extension offers from the Indiana Pacers, sources told Marc Stein of Substack.

Turner, who changed management agencies in November, has been the frequent target of trade rumors this season.

The two sides opened up contract extension discussions in late December. The Pacers, who have $25 million in cap space this season, have discussed a renegotiation-and-extend deal where Turner could make an extra $19.1 million on top of his $18 million contract this season.
