Rudy Gobert, Chris Finch Fined For Criticizing Officials Following Suns Loss

Mar 31, 2023 11:54 PM

Rudy Gobert was fined $25,000 and Chris Finch was fined $15,000 after each criticized officials following the Minnesota Timberwolves' 107-100 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

The Suns had a 27-12 advantage in free throw attempts in the game.

Finch said that Monty Williams' previous criticism of officials "works, because tonight they went to the line 27 times and we went to the line 12 times" after the game.

Gobert then claimed that officials were "trying to help them [Phoenix] win" the game.

"I think you want to see KD [Kevin Durant] in the playoffs, Steph [Stephen Curry] in the playoffs, you want to see LeBron [James] in the playoffs. Timberwolves are not there yet," added Gobert.

Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns Could Return As Soon As Wednesday

Mar 21, 2023 10:17 AM

The Minnesota Timberwolves are battling for seeding in the Western Conference. Now, the Wolves might have some reinforcements arriving soon. Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns could both return from injuries as soon as Minnesota's game on Wednesday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Edwards has missed the Timberwolves last two games, after suffering a sprained right ankle against the Chicago Bulls last Friday. Those were the first two games Edwards has missed this season. Minnesota fell at the Toronto Raptors on Saturday without Edwards, but bounced back to win at the New York Knicks on Monday.

Towns has been out since late-November with a Grade 3 tear in his right calf. Towns recently said he suffered a "major setback" in late-January, but that he's close to returning now.

Minnesota is one game under .500 and in a seven-way fight for postseason seeds in the Western Conference. That seven-team mix is all within two games of each other in sixth to 12th place in the West.

Karl-Anthony Towns Suffered 'Major Setback' In Injury Recovery in January

Mar 21, 2023 9:45 AM

Karl-Anthony Towns hasn't played in a game since late-November but is finally closing in on a return game action. For Towns, that return can't come soon enough, after going through a rehab he says he "hated every moment of".

“I feel good there is a day (coming),” Towns said. “There’s a time. I’ve been in the darkness of the tunnel and trying to figure out where I’m going. It’s good to know that there’s some light at the end of the tunnel.”

Towns suffered a Grade 3 tear of his right calf in the Wolves loss at the Washington Wizards on November 28th. Towns said his calf was 95% torn and that speculation of a four-to-six-week return was always way off.

The Timberwolves All-Star big man also said that he suffered a "major setback" in January during his recovery.

“It was obvious. You have a boot one day, then you’re out of a boot and now you’re back in a boot. That’s a setback,” he said, declining to say what specifically happened. “I think there will be a time and place to talk about that. But not right now.”

Anthony Edwards Out Of Walking Boot, Day-To-Day Moving Forward

Mar 19, 2023 12:15 PM

The Minnesota Timberwolves got some good news regarding star guard Anthony Edwards. Edwards' swelling has decreased in his sprained right ankle and it out of a walking boot. Edwards will be considered day-to-day as far as a return to the court.

Edwards was injured early in Friday's double-overtime loss at the Chicago Bulls. He played just eight minutes before being forced from the game.

The first-time All-Star then missed Saturday's game at the Toronto Raptors. That was Edwards' first missed game of the season. That snapped a string of over 90 consecutive games played for the Wolves guard.

Anthony Edwards left the Minnesota Timberwolves' 139-131 loss to the Chicago Bulls in the first quarter due to a right ankle injury.

Edwards did not put any weight on the ankle as he was carried off the court. The guard would later rejoin the bench in a protective boot.

"I couldn't walk on it, so I knew it was a wrap. See how it feels tomorrow," said Edwards after the game.

With the loss, the Wolves are now the No.8 seed in the Western Conference.
