Jordan Interested In Bringing Hornets' Nickname Back To Charlotte

Nov 30, 2012 1:58 PM

Michael Jordan has expressed interest in having the Hornets' nickname return to Charlotte.

“It’s definitely an interest down the road, but right now it’s the New Orleans Hornets,” Jordan told the Observer. “We would definitely entertain the opportunity. That’s as much as we can say right now. We’ve heard the community ask the question, and we would listen.”

Many in Charlotte continue to have fondness for the Hornets' teal-and-purple.

The New Orleans Hornets are interested in changing the nickname to something more associated with Louisiana.

The NBA already owns the rights to the name Charlotte Hornets, which would make a transition fairly easy.

The Bobcats were named after initial owner Robert L. Johnson.

Eric Gordon Progressing In Recovery, Compares Knee Issue To Disorder

Nov 27, 2012 10:39 AM

Eric Gordon joined the New Orleans Hornets for their game on Monday against the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.

Gordon offered few specifics about his injury, but insisted he is improving.

"It's getting better; progress is getting better, but there's no straight-up timetable," Gordon said. "The main thing is things have been getting better. They've got a plan for me and the main thing is the pain level is going down. Just trying to get back to 100 percent before I get back out there playing."

Gordon received a second opinion from a doctor in Chicago at the beginning of November.

"It's almost like a disorder. There was a little bit of a bone bruise, and, you know,  kind of like some of these other guys like (Andrew) Bynum and (Danny) Granger. Luckily my process will be shorter than that."

Gordon and the Hornets haven't discussed a return date.

"It's a man's game," Williams said. "They're treating these guys like they're 5 years old. He desperately wanted to come (to Chicago), but he couldn't make it."
