Kevin Porter Jr. Reaches Plea Deal On Assault, Harassment Charges

Jan 23, 2024 1:41 PM

Kevin Porter Jr. reached a plea deal in a Manhattan court Tuesday in the case involving his former girlfriend and WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick.

Porter has agreed to reckless assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and harassment in the second degree, a violation.

"The resolution will allow Mr. Porter to put this incident, which involved false felony allegations and false facts, behind him with no criminal record and move forward," Porter's lawyers said in a statement.

Porter was arrested for an alleged attack on Gondrezick at the Millennium Hilton on Sept. 11 in New York.

Gondrezick told the New York Post in October that Porter "didn't hit me," saying allegations that he beat her were not true.

In October, Porter was traded by the Houston Rockets to the Oklahoma City Thunder and subsequently waived.

Anthony Edwards Gripes About Calls Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Gets

Jan 21, 2024 8:23 AM

Anthony Edwards put most of the blame on himself for the Minnesota Timberwolves loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday. But Edwards saved a little for the calls the officials give to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander too.

"It's hard to [contain them] with the calls that Shai gets," Edwards said. "It's hard to shut them down. You can't touch him any time of the game. It's super hard to beat. That team is a good team, especially when they're getting calls like that."

For the game, Gilgeous-Alexander was 12-of-13 from the free throw line.

As for himself, Edwards owned that he needs to take better care of the ball.

"I got to look in the mirror," Edwards said. "Because it's me who generates most of the turnovers. … I'm definitely looking at film trying to figure out what am I doing? The majority come from me trying to make the right play. It's not really there. I'll be better."

Josh Giddey Cleared As Police End Investigation

Jan 17, 2024 10:37 PM

Police in Newport Beach announced they have closed an investigation into allegations that Josh Giddey had an improper relationship with an underage girl and will not pursue charges.

"After a thorough and exhaustive examination, we have completed our investigation into information that was circulating on social media involving Josh Giddey," the statement read. "Our detectives have reviewed all of the available information and were unable to corroborate any criminal activity related to Mr. Giddey."

Adam Silver said in early December that the league office's investigation would "take a back seat" to the Newport Beach police's process.

"Generally, we will work with law enforcement to the extent they will share with us the information they have," Silver said during his Las Vegas news conference before the NBA's in-season tournament final. "We can learn from that. We gather whatever information is available to us, in working alongside a police department in this case, or a D.A. As long as they say that we are not interfering with their investigation, we do what we can at the same time. But generally, we fall in behind any investigation and then go from there."

Giddey has been routinely booed in road games since the allegations surfaced.

Chet Holmgren: We Know We Have A Long Ways To Go

Jan 3, 2024 11:33 AM

The Oklahoma City Thunder have the NBA's third best net rating and fourth best record in the league. They appear ahead of schedule, but are not interested in discussing whether they are already championship contenders.

"It says that we're really playing together and we're prioritizing winning over anything else," Chet Holmgren said following Oklahoma City's win over the Boston Celtics. "But as far as long term, it doesn't really prove anything, I guess you could say, or it doesn't kind of satisfy anybody.

"We know we have a long ways to go. We're at 32 games into the season, so we still have 50 games left. We got a lot of lessons to learn, a lot of lessons we've already learned from that we've got to kind of keep in the back of our mind."

"I think we all stay in the moment and I think that's why we've been able to get better," Shai Gilgeous-Alexander said. "We just stay in the moment, attack the day, attack the program in front of us. Then we all have the right intentions and want to win at the end of the day."
