Aug 29, 2010 8:09 PM

The Wizards have 12 players under contract heading into training camp.

That number is not expected to change in the coming weeks.

Washington has invited Lester Hudson and Cartier Martin to camp, but the team has not decided whether it will enter the year with 13, 14 or 15 players.

They are unlikely to sign second-round pick Hamady Ndiaye for the upcoming season, according to a league source.

Leonsis Blogs Of Gilbert's Game, Condition

Aug 25, 2010 4:21 PM

Wizards owner Ted Leonsis watched some basketball at Verizon Center on the team's practice court on Tuesday night.

Leonsis blogged about the play of Gilbert Arenas.

"Last night there was a pick-up game played at Verizon Center on our practice court. There were many NBA players in attendance and a few NBA All-Stars played as well. I stumbled into watching purely by accident," the owner wrote.

"Gilbert Arenas played last night. It was a very good evening of basketball. Gil - our All-Star - matched up against another NBA All-Star. It was quite a show and quite a display of talent.

"I won't comment yet on Gilbert or who was in the gym last night but suffice to say Gilbert looked trim, fit and explosive. His shot was sweet and he did one left handed dunk that was something to see. It had everyone talking. I was impressed and am happy."

Clean Image Important To Wall

Aug 21, 2010 7:31 PM

John Wall has been in the national spotlight since he was a freshman in high school and understands the value of a clean image.

Wall, the first overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, took part in the league's rookie transition program recently.

A presentation was given by NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver. He showed a poll from fans that revealed that NBA players have the greatest image problem of athletes in the three major sports.

"That ain't good," said Wall.

He has been conscious of his image since he joined the D-One Sports AAU program. His advisers Brian and Dwon Clifton had a strict policy of no cornrows or tattoos. Wall, who had braids at the time, was initially reluctant.

"When I first cut my hair and all that and didn't get any tattoos, that was the main thing, having a clean image coming into this," said Wall.

"That's what they want, to help you to be more marketable. And if you don't stay in the league a long time, it helps you get jobs after this."
