Lloyd Pierce will replace Nate McMillan as an assistant coach for USA Basketball this summer as they compete in the FIBA World Cup in China.

McMillan withdrew due to scheduling conflicts.

Pierce joins Steve Kerr and Jay Wright under Gregg Popovich's coaching staff.

Kent Bazemore will exercise his 19-20 contract with the Atlanta Hawks worth $19.2 million.

Bazemore signed a four-year, $70 million deal with the Hawks in 2016.

Bazemore has been mentioned in trade rumors over the past few months.

The Atlanta Hawks have signed Deyonta Davis to a multiyear deal.

Davis was previously on a pair of 10-day contracts.

Davis has averaged 4.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game with the Hawks.

The Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks perform blood tests.

Blood tests are used to keep a gauge on the body, revealing levels of stress and fatigue. The test can also tell when a player isn't getting enough sleep, what food is needed and what vitamins and minerals are lacking.

“One of the big upsides is blood don’t lie,” said Shawn Arent, a kinesiology professor at Rutgers University and the director of its Center for Health & Human Performance. “You can ask an athlete how they’re feeling and all that’s important but athletes will lie too because they want to play. Blood gives you a very objective measure of a number of different things.”

The tests conducted by these teams are voluntary.

The players’ union is currently in discussions with the NBA about blood testing, according to a source. 

“At the end of the day they’re here to help you and you’re signing it,” Tim Hardaway Jr. said, before the Knicks traded him to another team that uses Orreco. “If you feel like you’re putting yourself at risk then don’t do it. You’re the one that’s signing your name on it and your information is going to be out there at the end of the day if you do it. We know at the end of the day they’re not here to hurt us, they’re here to help us and help us try to get better each and every day as an athlete and help us be healthy.”

The Atlanta Hawks have signed Isaac Humphries for the remainder of the season.

Humphries played in 46 games (34 starts) this season with the Erie BayHawks of the NBA G League, averaging 11.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 1.1 assists in 21.8 minutes (.538 FG%, .341 3FG%, .662 FT%). 

In 26 games (six starts) last season with the Sydney Kings of the NBL, the native of Australia averaged 6.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 16.5 minutes (.583 FG%, .653 FT%) en route to NBL Rookie of the Year honors. He also appeared in 12 contests last year with FMP Beograd in Serbia, averaging 4.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 9.0 minutes (.650 FG%).
