Deng, Hinrich Anticipating Summer Of Trade Rumors

Apr 30, 2010 10:38 AM

Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich are both candidates to be moved this summer if the Bulls are able to manufacture a sign-and-trade.

"I would love to be here my whole career, but you have to understand the business side of it," Deng said. "There are always going to be changes."

"I've been part of rumors for years," Hinrich said.

Del Negro Has Another Supporter In Noah

Apr 29, 2010 7:27 AM

Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro may not have much support within the team's front office, but his players are certainly going to bat for him.

One day after point guard Derrick Rose issued his support for Del Negro, center Joakim Noah expressed his desire to see the coach return next season.

"Yeah I endorse Vinny [Del Negro]," Noah said. "He did a lot for me as a player. He gave me a chance to play."

Del Negro has been under fire for a majority of the season with numerous reports indicating that Chicago would fire him after the team was eliminated from the playoffs.

"I think a lot of good things came from this season," Noah added. "We're a young team with a bright future. Hopefully we can sign somebody for a lot of money and they can come here and we can win a lot of basketball games and everyone can be happy."

Rose Doesn't Want To See Del Negro Go

Apr 28, 2010 4:51 PM

Bulls point guard Derrick Rose knows the situation is out of his control, but he doesn't want to see coach Vinny Del Negro get fired.

After the team was eliminated from the playoffs on Tuesday night Rose said he'd vote "Yes" if he's asked by Chicago's front office whether he wants Del Negro back.

"That's a guy, when we both came in, he let me have my freedom," said Rose. "He still coached me. He let me make my mistakes. We watched film together every day. He taught me a lot of offense and defense, what I'm supposed to do. But the decision is not up to me. It's up to the front office, so I'm just going to let them deal with that."

Brad Miller Says He Won't Be Going To New York

Apr 28, 2010 4:41 PM

Bulls center Brad Miller will be a free agent this summer, and he is already ruling out one potential destination.

"I'm not going to New York," Miller said after Chicago was eliminated from the playoffs by Cleveland.

Miller said a two-year deal with a third-year player option would be ideal and the Bulls could re-sign him for the right price.

"This is definitely one of the teams on my small list that I'm very interested in," Miller said of the Bulls. "But I'm in a good situation and realistic about my worth. I'm not worried about having to chase money. I can go to the situation that's best for me.

"I've had security for a long time. I'm assuming there will be interest but you never know."

Bulls Will Wait Until Weekend On Del Negro

Apr 28, 2010 8:13 AM

The Bulls won't make a public announcement on the fate of head coach Vinny Del Negro until at least the weekend, general manager Gar Forman said on Tuesday night.

Chicago was eliminated from the postseason in their Game 5 loss to Cleveland.

They will have player exit meetings on Wednesday and organizational meetings for the next few days.

Bulls chairman Jerry Reinsdorf is currently out of town and won't return until this weekend.

Del Negro has one year left on his three-year deal, but there have been widespread rumors that he's done in Chicago. Those rumors only increased when reports surfaced of his deteriorating relationship with the team's front office.

Cavs Could Use More Pick-And-Roll On Bulls

Apr 27, 2010 2:08 PM

The Cavaliers were successful using the pick-and-roll against the Bulls in Game 4 and Brian Windhorst of the Cleveland Plain Dealer believes we could see more of the same in Game 5.

The combination of Antawn Jamison and LeBron James was quite successful.

"Look for the Cavs to use more pick-and-roll with Jamison and James after the Bulls couldn't defend it in the second half Sunday," Windhorst writes.

"When the Bulls' switched defenders off the screens and had Deng guard Jamison, Jamison took him to the rim. When they tried to trap James or block Jamison to the rim, Jamison hit jumpers. The Cavs hadn't used that much in the series until then. That is a defensive problem area for the Bulls."

Noah: Bulls Aren't Distracted By Del Negro's Future

Apr 27, 2010 7:40 AM

Bulls center Joakim Noah says that the uncertain future of coach Vinny Del Negro isn't distracting the team in their first round playoff series against the Cavaliers.

"Those are things as players that we can't really control," Noah said Monday afternoon. "I think our mindset is just to be ready for [Tuesday's] game.

"I think that we're in this all together. During the year, a lot of things happened. There's a lot of rumors, a lot of speculation. Some things are better kept internal, kind of like a family, or a frat. Kind of like that."

A reporter pushed Noah to open up, citing fan interest, but the center didn't budge.

"I agree with that," he said. "But that doesn't mean you guys have to know everything.

"As long as we fight every day on the court for you guys, what else do you need to know?"

Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will have an MRI on his left ankle.

Rose tweaked the ankle on Sunday in Chicago's Game 4 loss to Cleveland.

Luol Deng also missed the team's practice on Monday with a sore right knee and calf.

Both players are expected to play in Game 5 on Tuesday.

"He was sore [Monday]," Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said of Rose. "He jammed it on Shaq's foot. He was limping a little bit today, so hopefully he'll be better and see how he feels."

Del Negro's Fate Won't Be Solely About Coaching

Apr 25, 2010 3:59 PM

The overwhelming belief is that the Bulls will fire coach Vinny Del Negro once they are eliminated from the postseason.

"He's a dead man walking," one Eastern Conference executive told ESPN. "He won't be back."

Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine points out that Del Negro has gotten Chicago to the postseason, where they have been competitive, in back-to-back seasons. Meanwhile, Toronto's Jay Triano and Indiana's Jim O'Brien haven't accomplished nearly as much but remain safe.

"Looking at the numbers, I'd give him an above-average grade," another Eastern Conference executive said. "But that doesn't always tell the story."

Del Negro's downfall will have more to do with personality and vision than the team's win/loss record or playoff success.

"Vinny's not aligned well with the organization," an executive said.

"His philosophy and his agenda is not the same as the organization's. The minutes situation with Noah was a micro-version of that, where he said, 'The organization made it clear this is how we do it, but I'm going to do it my way.' "
