Granger's Knee Issue Will Make Pacers Start Him Slowly In Camp

Sep 26, 2012 10:27 AM

Danny Granger will be limited at the start of training camp due to an issue with his left knee that became an issue while training this summer in Los Angeles.

Granger received an injection in the knee.

The Pacers don't believe it is a major issue, but they will be careful with Granger's workload to begin the preseason.

Miller Sees Similarities Between Mid-1990s Pacers, Current Team

Sep 7, 2012 4:45 PM

The Pacers started a string of deep playoff runs in the mid-1990s after losing in the first round four consecutive years before reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in 1994.

The current incarnation of the Pacers missed the playoffs from 2007 until 2010 before losing in the first round against the Bulls in 2011, and pushing the eventual champion Heat to six games this May.

After spending 18 seasons with the team, Reggie Miller still keeps tabs on the Pacers and sees some parallels.

“When you look at those playoff games, at the fans, it reminded me a lot of 1994 and 1995,” Miller said on Thursday at the Basketball Hall of Fame. “The enthusiasm was there. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen that and I’m glad to see that it’s come back.”

Miller believes the Pacers could take another step forward as early as next season.

“They had the third-best record in the conference last year,” he continued. “With the injury to Derrick Rose, I look for them to win the Central Division this year. To push Miami to six games and have a two-to-one game lead in that series, their great young players, the team is on the rise.”

Reggie Miller Won't Trash Talk During Hall Of Fame Speech

Sep 7, 2012 12:45 PM

Reggie Miller developed a reputation as a trash talker during his nearly two decades in the NBA. Despite his aggressive demeanor on the court, he’s soft-spoken off it and has no plans to follow the lead of Michael Jordan with a pointed, revengeful Hall of Fame induction speech on Friday night.

“I didn’t see a lot of his speech, but I heard he kind of turned the table a little bit. Let me ask you this though – isn’t that what made Michael great? That’s what made him great,” he said. “I heard tidbits about him making personal attacks.”

Miller plans to take the respectful route when addressing the crowd in Springfield, Mass.

“I’m not going to get up there and trash talk. I can’t do that.”

Reggie Miller Remains Open To Front Office Role With Pacers

Sep 6, 2012 12:16 PM

Reggie Miller is currently a broadcaster, but would consider a front office role.

"I never close any doors," Miller said when asked about returning to the Indiana Pacers. "I listen to everything. (Owner) Herb Simon and I have had this conversation before. So yes, if something presented itself, I would definitely look at it and go from there."

The Pacers have been run by either Donnie Walsh or Larry Bird for each of the past 30 seasons.

"I'm always interested," Simon said. "Reggie would be a wonderful person to have in this franchise."

Miller lives in Malibu.
